IT Network Administrator

**The IT Systems Administrator at Unionville College (formally Unionville Montessori School) is responsible for planning, development, hands-on installation, configuration, and maintenance of corporate hardware, software, and any related infrastructure. This includes the creation of all plans for ensuring functionality, data consistency, security, and usability of systems aligned with the organization’s priorities and enabling Unionville College employees and students to do their work effectively. The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for diagnosing and resolving performance issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability. They will also be accountable for planning updates and maintenance of hardware and software resources to mitigate limitations. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.**

Duties include:

- Install, maintain, evaluate, and upgrade all computer hardware and software.
- Administer and maintain all networks as well as connections to the Internet and peripheral equipment.
- Ensure daily backup operations are complete, and plan, perform, and assist with emergency recovery operations.
- Manage user accounts: creating, updating, and removing access as necessary.
- Provide technical support to end users as part of shared Help Desk responsibilities
- Test and install issued patches in conjunction with software providers and vendors or other third parties.
- Research and recommend improvements to the organization’s hardware, software, and associated infrastructure. Ensure hardware is adequately sized and configured; conduct capacity planning scenarios to meet future needs.
- Monitor and assess systems to ensure that processes are operating as designed.
- Develop, administer, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of all systems.
- Develop and maintain expertise through professional development opportunities.
- Act as a technical resource during other projects as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

What you bring to this role:

- Direct work experience in systems administration, including Windows Server, VMware and Veeam with SAN devices, UNIFI networking, VLANS, and VOIP.
- Systems Administration and/or System Engineer certifications in Unix, Google and Microsoft are assets.
- Able to interpret the operational requirements of end users & project managers, and determine appropriate solutions.
- Ability to write concise and accurate technical documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
- Effective deadline management and project management skills.

Qualifications, skills and abilities
- Ideally, the applicant has 3+ years proven experience in network administration in a small to medium-sized enterprise
- A degree in Computer Science/Telecommunications or a related field, or equivalent technical training and certifications is desired.
- Knowledge of Exchange administration an asset
- Knowledge of Edsembli, Edsby an asset
