- _The Educational Consultant at the top of the scale receives a salary increase equal to the difference between the maximum rate of the salary scale and the maximum rate of the salary scale of teachers currently in effect. As of April 1, 2025, the total salary for a consultant at step 18, including the increase, is $102 857._

Nature of the work
- The position of education consultant encompasses, in particular, responsibility for providing advice and support to staff of educational institutions and services in the implementation, development and evaluation of programs of study, class management and instructional materials.
Description of tasks
**Specific to the vocational training sector**:
**Under the supervision of the centre’s administration**, the pedagogical consultant working in vocational training provides support in **special education** for students with special needs, particularly those coming from **youth general education (YGE)**. They will actively participate in the **development, implementation, and follow-up of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).**
**General tasks of this classification**
- Participate in carrying out the educational project and the special projects of schools.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of their success plan, while complying with the academic and administrative requirements of both the education institutions and the school board.
- Contribute to the implementation of programs of study and training.
- Provide advice to teachers and administration concerning the interpretation of these programs
- Designs and leads training workshops and sessions on program components
- Collaborate in developing learning situations and supports experimentation in class.
- Provide advice and support to teacher either individually or in a group format in matters pertaining to their daily teaching activities.
- Develop or select and deliver training and instrumentation activities designed to respond to needs in pedagogical adaptation, innovation, and development.
- Provide teachers with learning evaluation tools and guides them in the design, preparation, or adaptation of evaluation tools.
- Work with teachers to prepare and implement strategies and projects aimed at helping students who are experiencing or who are likely to experience social maladjustments or learning difficulties.
- Advise management, teaching or professional staff on matters pertaining to professional development programs, plans the programs and evaluates the results.
- Analyze and recommend the purchase of learning materials, supplementary materials, equipment, software and program packages, and provide advice on room layouts.
- Advise school staff on the means for integrating technology into teaching
- Participate in carrying out related projects
- Prepare and deliver training and information workshops on components of the program for integrating technology.
- Collaborate with other school resources, partner organizations and the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur.
- In the area of adult and vocational training centres : Promote the school board to social and economic partners and draw up an appropriate promotional plan.
- Meet with representatives of various businesses so as to develop with them training programs that meet their needs and those of their staff.
- Draws up memorandums of agreement and service offers.
- Participate in organizing work-study programs, training periods and industrial visits.
- Provide support to the teachers concerned and information and advice to employers.
Desired profile
**Schooling**
A bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialty, notably education.
A graduate-level degree related to intervention in vocational training and /or special education will be considered an asset.
**Other requirements**
- Bilingual - Strong knowledge of English and French.
- Significant experience in teaching and pedagogical support
- In-depth knowledge of the IEP process and special education strategies
- Solid understanding of the Quebec education system, especially vocational and youth education
- Strong skills in teamwork, pedagogical leadership, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
