New Haven Learning Centre, a charitable, non-profit organization committed to being a Centre of Excellence in the treatment and personal supports offered to children and adults with autism, is currently looking for passionate and dedicated behaviour support workers with at least 1 full year of experience to join our energetic and dedicated teams The Centre's efforts are directed toward improving the education, therapeutic programming and quality supports offered to our clients in both children's and adult services.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The BSWs are an integral part of the New Haven team, working one-to-one and in small groups with each of the clients in their centre or community context. As such, they be be asked to complete the following key responsibilities:

- Support children, youth, and adults with ASD to participate across in-Centre services that target functional daily living skills, personal care skills, communication skills that are within an individual service plan and supervised by a BCBA,
- Guide and physically support the delivery of individualized programming, support during transitions, and entry and exit routines for clientele who may demonstrate behaviours that benefit from a multi-staff approach in general behaviour management,
- Provide direct care which may include support with personal care tasks such as dressing or toileting while focusing on required health and safety protocols at all times;
- Implement crisis management techniques where necessary using Safe Management Group Inc.(SMG) strategies and de-escalation techniques in alignment with approved behaviour support plans,
- Be willing to train to successful certification in SMG and maintain training requirements and certification steps annually,
- Support in collecting, monitoring, and responding to service data and the overall implementation of behaviour support plans,
- Support the clientele during their scheduled activities both within the centre and in some community contexts as they work to complete individualized goals,
- Ensure adequate materials (i.e., visual aids, programming materials, etc.) are available and ready for use each shift,
- Participate in program planning with team members during indirect service time,
- Electronically and in written format, complete daily clinical data reports on assigned clients, and other documentation, as assigned,
- Maintain regular contact with the Supervisors/Team Leads/Executive Team members in regard to all issues pertaining to the program and responsibilities as assigned or assumed as a general level of employment,
- Participate in maintaining a clean, respectful, and positive work environment by following specific daily protocols and agency policies and procedures,
- Adhere to agency requirements relating to report writing and record keeping, voluntary committee memberships, and overall participation in agency,
- Other duties as assigned.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL BRING THE FOLLOWING:

- Enthusiasm in working intensively with individuals of all abilities,
- Completion of secondary school and previous experience working with children, youth or adults with ASD. University/college education in a relevant discipline strongly preferred,
- Understanding of the principles of applied behaviour analysis with the RBT certification considered an asset,
- Demonstrated problem solving and crisis management skills,
- Experience with managing challenging behaviours,
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment,
- Be reliable, dependable and adaptable,
- Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
- Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19

THE IN-CENTRE WORK CONDITIONS:

- Challenging client behaviours including aggression and self-injurious behaviours,
- Use of SMG is required (mandatory training is provided),
- Loud and active environments,
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs in and across days of service,
- Must be flexible in assignments and look to be an active team member in working through challenges that may emerge in completion of duties as assigned.
- 37.5-hour work week plus up to 8 weeks of scheduled centre-closure holidays, benefits and employment assistance program offered.

**Salary**: From $24.40 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 37.5 per week
