**Continuous Improvement Specialist (CI Specialist)**
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist is responsible for the design, development and implementation of innovative solutions in R&D processes for the site. This position will develop breakthrough innovations in agronomic practices by collaborating with other functions within the company and externally with industry partners. This person will be the Subject Matter Expert in the site's continuous improvement program and leading in the implementation and maintenance of CI projects. The CI Specialist will also drive improvements in controlled environment plant breeding, integrated pest management practices, operational standards and best practices in R&D operations.
Bayer is committed to a flexible hybrid working environment. This is a permanent position based out of Winnipeg, MB Smartpark location.
**What you will do**:
- Leads the implementation and maintenance of the site's continuous improvement program (e.g. LEAN, Six Sigma, Production Systems, etc.) through training, coaching, and employee engagement activities
- Leads the development and implementation of unique and innovative solutions designed to improve research and operational success through the use of data and analytics, breakthrough methodologies in R&D production processes, use of controlled environment equipment, automation and deployment of best practices
- Conducts optimization studies and experimental trials that could result in a significant increase in the overall efficiency and success of the early stages of the breeding pipeline
- Keeps up to date on related literatures, scientific studies, industry trends and practices
- Collaborate with project team members to deliver detailed experimental protocols
- Train team members and seasonal employees on R&D production methodologies, the site's standard operating procedures and equipment operations
- Coordinate with breeders, scientist, and site leadership team in organizing and executing day-to-day priorities of the site vis-a-vis experimentation and optimization studies and trials
- Operation of research equipment, data management with internal IT systems, comply with quality and compliance standards, complete and/or participate in safety inspections/training and comply with all policies and standard operating procedures
- Engage in community relations activities including but not limited to community volunteer efforts, sustainability activities, and serve as a technical representative to external parties in partnership with Commercial, Marketing, and other functions on topics such as product pipeline development, and compliance standards. Coordinates trials/protocols and offers training across network, influences partners on research design, protocol development, data collection
**Who you are**:
- MS or BS Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
- Possess a LEAN Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
- Experience implementing LEAN Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement programs in a large-scale manufacturing and/or supply chain operations
- History of implementation of continuous improvements and new innovations through project teams
- Expertise with both standard MS Office computer and software systems used in scientific data analysis, with ability to quickly learn new software programs and tools.
- Capable of utilizing multiple analytics platforms to articulate observations and areas in need of improvement
- Capable of pulling, analyzing, and maintaining large data sets
- Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team-based environment
