Job Description:
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Director, Quality & Clinical Governance, the Manager, Office of the Secretariat is responsible and accountable for the functions related to the Office of the Secretariat and, implementing effective strategies to support the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) Clinical Governance Structures. These initiatives may encompass any of the activities and operations of Island Health, its Agencies, all associated programs, and third party business relationships with these entities. The Manager will develop, implement, manage and evaluate Office of the Secretariat activities, including organizational systems, processes and practices; analyzing the organizational need, and capacity for change and resource capabilities, and work with leaders from across Island Health, other Health Authorities and other industries. The Manager provides leadership, direction and performance management to a team dedicated to Office of the Secretariat activities, as well as managing the department budget.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
Subject matter expert in clinical governance improvement. A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree with either a focus on clinical practice with a health care discipline and/or emphasis on Adult Education, Industrial Engineering, or Business Administration, and five (5) years' recent related work experience in clinical governance related activities and program planning, development and evaluation, and/or education delivery in a large, unionized health care environment, including previous experience in a management or leadership capacity.

- Demonstrated project management skills for large complex projects.
- Demonstrated ability to create and execute strategic plans and to organize and prioritize work.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new skills, and commitment to on-going professional development to supplement core business knowledge in relevant topic areas through academic and informal channels.
- Superior oral and written communication skills to present and prepare concise analyses, reports and recommendations to multidisciplinary audiences, and consult individuals internal to the organization.
- Ability to adapt and remain flexible in order to meet changing priorities and resource constraints.
