Our Opportunity

We have an opportunity available for a **full-time, permanent Custodian on our day shift, Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. **at our Thorold Distribution Centre.

Main responsibilities:

- Working shifts on days (7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week), arriving on time and ready to work
- Promoting a clean and organized work environment
- Cleaning and disinfecting our facility’s public spaces, including high-touch surfaces, staff lunchrooms, and washrooms
- Ensuring the showroom is cleaned
- Sweeping/dry mopping and power scrubbing/washing floors throughout the warehouse
- Emptying all garbage containers inside and outside the building and disposing of garbage in the dumpster; remove and replace recycling bins throughout the warehouse
- Organizing the janitorial room, cataloguing and recording supplies, and ordering supplies when required
- Removing snow and salting walkways
- Working effectively and conscientiously with your team members to complete tasks
- Carrying out tasks that require all-day standing and repetitive movements including: bending, squatting, and lifting
- Upholding safe and lean work procedures in accordance with Book Depot’s Health and Safety Program
- Maintaining Book Depot Inc.’s standards, productivity and accuracy levels
- Other related tasks as may be required

Requirements and Qualifications
- Completion of grade 12 education or equivalent
- Prior related experience is an asset
- Positive attitude, punctual and strong work ethic; ability to work in a high-performing and fast-paced work environment
- Good English communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong attention to detail, identifying and sharing continuous improvement opportunities
- Ability to work independently, while part of a team
