**Job Title**:Evening Support Worker

This position reports to the Program Director

**1. Job Overview**:
a) This position is responsible for the implementation of the programs during the evening and weekend.
b) This position is also responsible for the general supervision of the Centre during assigned shifts.
c) This position will work Monday to Friday 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM.

**2. Key Responsibilities**:
a) Supervise the Centre while on shift
b) Prepare and implement the appropriate program function as scheduled, i.e. recreation, 12 step

meeting, lecture; lead group discussion around the program component as appropriate
c) Assist the team with guest speakers/leaders in setting up programs and assist in the programs as

required and appropriate
d) Provide a positive role model for clients and create a positive supportive environment at the Centre
e) Lock/unlock all doors at the appropriate times and be responsible for security procedures
f) Perform administrative/janitorial/housekeeping duties as assigned

**3. Duties Include (but are not limited to)**:
a) After being briefed by staff on shift/reading log, assist clients with chores, medication, bedtime etc.;
Check in with the in-house Elder(s)
b) Take the lead in organizing and running all House meetings.
c) Hand out client mail/messages after supper
d) Close blinds by 4 pm
e) Do rounds of the building; sign count sheets as appropriate
f) Turn client phones on and off at scheduled times
g) Close kitchen/lock pantry & fridge and close laundry room as scheduled

**4. Additional Responsibilities**:
a) Ensure the building is secure (e.g. locking doors, setting alarm, water pump, etc.)
b) Assist with house laundry on laundry nights
c) Assist with preparation/set up for completion ceremonies the evening before they begin
d) Assist with/attend client swim nights
e) Drive clients to medical/other appointments
f) Other duties as required.

**5. Minimum Training/Experience Requirements**:
a) High School Completion
b) Knowledge and training in addictions and its treatment
c) Good interpersonal and communication skills



d) Ability to work without supervision
e) Minimum of 3 years abstinence from alcohol and mind-altering drugs; Role model and maintain an

abstinent lifestyle.
f) A First Aid training certificate.
g) Class 4 Driver’s License

h) Post-secondary training in health/social sciences
i) Familiarity with First Nations communities
