Coastal Support Services Ltd. is looking for an Employment Specialist/Job Coach to join our Supported Work Program.

Location: Nanaimo, BC

Hours: 35 hours per week

Monday to Friday

Compensation: $24- $25 an hour

**Position Description**
- Maintain detailed progress notes, goals and report to the Supported Work Program Manager.
- Match clients with available opportunities in employment, training, and work experience.
- Recognize potential crisis situations, analyze the situations accurately, develop strategies, and inform the team leader when incidents arise.
- Identify problems and barriers that hinder employability and assist clients in resolving and mitigating barriers to employment by identifying the need for other services and benefits.
- Assist with on-the-job training and job shadowing, as needed, to facilitate independent competency in the workplace.
- Develop strategies to integrate individuals into new workplace environments and consistently follow up with employers.
- Perform other related duties as required.

**Job Skills & Abilities**
- Experience in job placement, specifically working with persons with disabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team setting, with an emphasis on leadership, self-initiative, patience and maturity.
- Knowledge of the local community’s resources and services including services provided and labour market trends.
- Ability to maintain confidential information including clients’ personal information and progress notes.
- A strong commitment to ensuring that the rights of people with developmental disabilities are respected and protected, and active demonstration of awareness and knowledge of different types of disabilities.
- Strong knowledge base of clients’ cultures and demonstration of cultural sensitivity and competence.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and liaise with families and caregivers.
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Working proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

**Education & Experience**
- Graduation from a Post-Secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Social Sciences, Human Resources, Psychology, Community Support Work, Mental Health & Addictions, Social Work, Career Development, or related field.
- Minimum of two to three years’ experience working one on one with clients in employment advising, human resources, community support work, social work, or related field.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract required.
- Criminal record check for working with vulnerable adults will be required prior to start date.
- Occupational First Aid level 1 completion required.
