PURPOSE:
The Risk Services Specialist is responsible for conducting home assessments for high value dwellings ($1M+), providing expert advice to colleagues and clients, and collaborating on product development and enhancement. The incumbent is responsible for replacement cost calculations, onsite structure measurements and/or blueprint interpretation, report preparation, and providing best-in-class risk management and loss control advice to homeowners. A high level of tact and discretion is required. Relationship management, accountability, and collaboration with underwriters, brokers, and insureds is a critical component for success in this role.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Conduct timely and accurate risk evaluation services through site assessments in order to identify and evaluate loss exposure, hazards, and controls for risks.
- Consult with homeowners or their representatives on loss control and prevention and suggest mitigation strategies
- Develop structure replacement cost with supporting facts and accurate measurements
- Document the features and finishes of the dwelling with accurate material/brand/product identification and corresponding replacement costs
- Ensure that solutions and alternatives offered take into account risk control and mitigation techniques.
Prepare and deliver accurate and timely summary reports to underwriting, the client, and the broker and respond to inquiries from all parties. Ensure assignments are completed in a cost-effective, timely and productive manner in accordance with specified service standards. Work autonomously with mínimal supervision, set and maintain own schedule and accountable for monthly/annual production goals. Maintain enhanced knowledge of risk control practices and industry trends and developments and create & deliver reports, memos, and presentations to colleagues Develop and maintain knowledge of Underwriting standards and company guidelines. Identify broker & underwriter training/educational needs. Deliver training/educational sessions for brokers and internal staff as requested. Act as an account manager in the working relationships with both internal and external business contacts.
- Manage the relationship with the Underwriting team by providing professional opinions, consultations and creative solutions.

- Development of best practices, recommendations and procedures.
- Assist management in testing and piloting new programs and services, providing feedback and suggestions as appropriate.
- Assist with the training and development of other staff in matters relevant to safety, loss prevention, risk analysis, and customer service as required
- Provide assistance with the development of technical training for the development of Risk Services consultants including Quality Assessments (QA)
Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education and/or industry-specific experience in architecture, interior design, real estate, or construction
- Minimum 7 years’ industry experience specific to residential appraisals/assessments
- Proficient in onsite structure measurements, blueprint site reading & APEX drawing software
- Several years experience in completing residentia
