**This is a temporary position until approximately September 2026.**

**What does this role look like?**:
The CBE understands the future of work is flexible. In this role, you are eligible to participate in a flexible work program that allows you to work remotely for up to three days a week. A minimum of two days must be in the office. At certain times, you maybe be required to work in the office more then 2 days per week based on operational requirements.

This job is responsible for:

- Planning, organization, and administration of the assigned group.
- Fulfilling the key role in the development and implementation of systems for the collection and maximization of corporate revenues (federal, provincial, and external), the forecasting and reporting of corporate services.
- Providing advice and assistance to management and serve as a liaison with external agencies, including governments, in all matters described above.

This position is accountable for:

- Leading, coaching and managing staff performance. Setting and monitoring group objectives.
- Developing, coordinating, and administering CBE finances in accordance with CBE and Alberta Education rules and regulations.
- Serving as a primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders related to CBE.
- Consistently delivering comprehensive reporting to managers, directors, and CFO.

- Recruit and select direct report staff and establish standards of performance for each member and the group, direct staff training and activities and monitor and evaluate staff performance and development. Provide feedback to employees. Encourage ongoing staff development.
- Carry out employee disciplinary actions, up to and including termination, as required.
- Manage and provide proactive leadership and mentoring to staff. Evaluates user needs and determines resources needed to fulfil them.
- Establish an appropriate internal control framework for the work unit to operate in. Ensures proper segregation of duties and implementation of appropriate preventative / detective internal controls with the goal to safeguard Calgary Board of Education (CBE) assets.
- Plan and establish goals and objectives and overall coordination of the assigned group
- Plan, direct, and oversees the preparation of the budget working papers and schedules for ad hoc, monthly updates and those included in the budget, forecasting, and Government Reporting Entity (GRE) for all areas of the assigned unit and for any related reporting presented to the Board of Trustees, Administration, and other agencies. Ensures that reporting falls within the proper guidelines of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Public Standards Accounting Board (PSAB).
- Maintain knowledge and interpret provincial and federal legislative requirements and ensure CBE is in compliance. Maintain current knowledge regarding trends in the internal and external markets and stakeholders to maximize revenues and provide recommendations regarding funding for capital and operational needs.
- Evaluate and design management reporting that allows for timely senior management and executive decision making.
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of projects affecting unit responsibilities. Leading and collaborating with CBE departments and making recommendations for implementing changes in accordance with governance.
- As a member of the management team for Corporate Finance, provide leadership in decision making, forward planning, establishment of goals and objectives, and overall coordination of the Department. Establish objectives, formulate policy, and set standards in the area of assigned unit on behalf of the organization. Communicate unit needs to other units, departments, and schools, and maintain internal and external contacts.
- Act on behalf of the Manager, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the purpose and accountabilities of the job.

Education and Experience
- University degree in a business-related discipline and a current Chartered Professional Accounting designation.
- Five years progressively more responsible accounting experience, preferably including several years of supervisory experience in a public sector and unionized environment.
- An equivalent combination of directly related post-secondary education and directly related experience may be considered.
