The Birches Nursing Home is a Community Governed organization that operates a 42 bed Continuing Care Centre. **Job Summary**:
Under the direction of the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist, the PTA/OTA assists the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist with treatment and education, maintains treatment and storage areas, checks and cleans equipment, and assists with staff education programs. The PTA/OTA is responsible for specific resident care activities and education programs commensurate with their specific training and certification.

**Qualifications**:

- Graduate of a recognized Physiotherapy Assistant / Occupational Therapist Assistant Program
- Experience in maintaining a clean and sanitary food service environment
- Previous experience as a PTA/OTA in a long-term care facility
- Ability to communicate well with residents, their families and staff
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned work in an organized manner
- A proven commitment to resident centered care
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Alzheimer Disease and related Dementia, CPR and First Aid courses are assets
- Regular attendance in current and previous employment

**Salary Range**:In accordance with current Collective Agreement between The Birches Nursing Home and C.U.P.E. Local 3199

**Schedule**: 8 hour days; Monday to Friday
