St. Leonard's Youth and Family Services is a non-profit agency that contracts with the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). We are **not** a religious affiliated agency and are looking for enthusiastic people to join our growing team in Burnaby.

We pride ourselves on our reputation of providing exceptional services to a diverse population of children, youth and families.

We are recruiting Child/Youth Care Workers for 8 hour shifts with a focus on caring for children and youth in a two-bed emergency receiving and assessment home that is contracted through MCFD, as well as two bed long term homes for youth transitioning to independent living. We offer flexibility and continued learning opportunities.

Responsibilities include caring for children and youth ages 13 to 18 years old, in a home setting. This would include house cleaning, food preparation and building a positive connection with the person we serve, participating in meetings, driving youth to appointments and writing reports. Must have an ability to assess trends and behavior patterns in the youth we serve. Also, must have an ability to write detailed progress notes, reports and complete all administrative responsibilities. Strong boundaries and consistency are a significant part of this position. Knowledge and understanding of Trauma and the impact trauma has on children’s behavior is an important part of the service we provide.
- Must have strong communication skills, both verbal and written. A basic knowledge of computers required.
- Must be willing to acquire valid British Columbia class 5 driver's license (Class 7 accepted for overnight shifts only.)
- Employees expected to drive the youth to appointments or day programs. Agency provides each home with a company car.
- Employee must have an ability to work with children and youth who have experienced trauma and display challenging behaviors.
- Willingness to get medical clearance to work in a stressful environment. MCFD clearance check and a criminal record check are also required.
- Must be able to work **some** overnights and holidays.

Part-time hours: 16-40 per week
