**Clinical Trials Development Specialist**:
**Primary Purpose**

The Clinical Trials Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic expansion of clinical research at the University of Saskatchewan. With a clear mandate to increase the number, diversity, and impact of clinical trials, this position leads the identification and development of new clinical trial opportunities, while fostering strong relationships with industry sponsors, investigators, and internal partners. This role demands a high level of independence, business development expertise, and deep knowledge of the clinical research ecosystem.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Strategic Development & Sponsor Engagement - 60%**
- Lead the identification of new clinical trial opportunities through analysis of sponsor pipelines, industry trends, and academic partnerships.
- Build and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with clinical trial sponsors, CROs, and other strategic partners.
- Position the University of Saskatchewan as a preferred trial site by promoting institutional capabilities and investigator expertise.
- Act as a strategic liaison between sponsors and university researchers to align research interests with sponsor needs.
- Maintain and manage a robust opportunity pipeline, tracking sponsor interest, trial leads, and investigator alignment.
- Represent the CTSU and university at sponsor meetings, industry events, and conferences to raise the institution’s research profile.

**Faculty Engagement & Research Enablement - 20%**
- Proactively identify and connect qualified investigators with relevant clinical trial opportunities
- Act as an expert advisor to PIs during the intake and feasibility assessment phases of new trials
- Guide investigators, particularly those new to clinical research, through CTSU processes and available supports
- Partner with research facilitators and department heads to promote clinical research participation across the College of Medicine

**Systems Integration & Operational Alignment - 20%**
- Lead the deployment and optimization of clinical trial management systems to enhance study intake and monitoring processes
- Liaise with IT and operational leads to ensure digital tools are effectively integrated into CTSU workflows
- Facilitate ongoing process improvements that reduce friction and accelerate study start-up timelines
- Gather and report user feedback to support continuous improvement of systems and tools

**Qualifications**

**Education**
- A university degree in Health Sciences, Clinical Research, Business Development, or a related field is required. A master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is preferred

**Experience**
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in clinical research, business development, or research administration within an academic or healthcare setting
- Demonstrated success in identifying and securing new research partnerships, particularly clinical trials
- Strong understanding of clinical trial workflows, feasibility, and regulatory requirements
- Experience working with investigators, sponsors, CROs, and clinical operations teams
- Familiarity with clinical trial management systems and institutional research processes

**Salary**: The salary range, based on 1.0 FTE, is $69,035.00 - 107,868.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
