**Smith Trucking Service is growing and in need of a Journeyman Heavy-Duty Technician.**We are a provider of aggregate, asphalt, paving, environmental, refuse pick up, cement bins, underground services, large construction projects and short/long haul trucking.

**Responsibilities**
- Identify mechanical issues in heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, such as trucks, trailers, construction machinery, and paving equipment.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
- Use computerized and manual testing equipment to diagnose issues accurately.
- Inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, cooling systems, brakes, and drive chains.
- Repair or replace damaged parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Test the functionality of parts and systems to ensure they are working correctly.
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics to perform repairs.
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and legislative regulations.
- Document work in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentice technicians.
- Keep work area clean and organized, ensuring a safe and efficient workspace.
- Deliver high-quality work that meets or exceeds specifications and standards.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and conducting regular safety checks.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.

**Qualifications**
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Heavy-Duty Journeyman Certificate with experience servicing large machinery, trucks and trailers.
- CVIP Certificate or ability to obtain it is considered an asset.
- Must possess at minimum a valid class 5 driver’s license and acceptable driver’s abstract. Class 1 or Class 3 License is considered an asset.
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to speak and write clearly in English.
- Knowledge of industry standards and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to identify and resolve vehicle issues efficiently.
- High level of attention to detail to ensure accurate diagnostics and repairs.
- Positive attitude, self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize work effectively to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, twisting, overhead reaching heavy materials in various weather conditions.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and peak period overtime - we are busy.
