Vancouver Summer Program Facilitator

**Overall Purpose**: Power To Be Adventure Therapy Society (PTB) provides access to nature for youth, families, and adults living with cognitive, physical, financial, and social barriers. The Program Facilitator supports and/or co-facilitates participant-centred outdoor recreation programs locally and in more remote locations. Primary responsibilities of the position include program facilitation, participant care, facilitating risk management and program logistics, supporting intake and administration, and working with volunteers and community partners.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Programs
- Facilitate programs in alignment with Power To Be’s mission, values, and policies.
- Assist in developing, preparing, and implementing programs that support participants’ abilities, broaden their experiences, and enhance their quality of life.
- Adhere to risk management and participant protection policies in all program decisions.
- Support program or staff incident reviews as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with ethical guidelines, privacy protection, and risk management policies.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including documentation, progress reports, communications, vehicle use, receipts, participant files, and program evaluation.
- Use program systems and event calendars effectively.
- Help maintain Power To Be’s equipment, vehicles, facilities, electronics, and other assets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
People
- Support co-workers, volunteers, and stakeholders; step in when needed during absences.
- Foster a positive and dynamic workplace culture aligned with Power To Be’s values.
- Participate in meetings as required.
- Follow all Power To Be policies, guidelines, and relevant legislation related to staff and volunteers.
Finance
- Ensure proper fiscal controls for program expenses.
- Submit all required documentation on time.
Performs other related duties, as required.
**Particular Working Conditions**:
This role may require occasional evening, weekend, overnight, and multi-day commitments, as well as outdoor work in varying weather conditions. The ability to perform physically demanding tasks (e.g., moving loaded kayaks, multi-day hikes, using adaptive gear like the Trail Rider), and reliable transportation to program locations and for business use.
Job Requirements
- As per the Ministry of Justice requirements for organizations that work with vulnerable populations, A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
- Minimum of two years of experience facilitating outdoor recreation programming
- Experience with people who live with a barrier, disability or other significant life challenge(s), and/or youth and family work
- Demonstrated competency in outdoor pursuits
- Proficiency in the use of computers including Office 365 and the internet
**Assets**:
- Current Wilderness first aid and CPR-C certification
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license with a minimum of two years safe driving experience
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Working knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavioural intervention, progressive curriculum and/or risk management practices
- Certification in Canoeing, Kayaking, and/or Paddleboarding
- Valid class 4 driver’s license
- NLS and/or Bronze Cross
- Experiencing using a CRM or database use

**Location**: Hybrid workplace. Administrative work completed from home; ability to get to and from Maple Lead Self Storage (3001 Wall St, Vancouver) and North Vancouver for program facilitation

**Term**: May - August (16 weeks)
**Hours**: 35 hours per week
**Compensation**: $26.78 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of vacation time.
