**Job Summary**:
As the primary contact with our guests, a server takes orders and delivers food and beverages. This position provides support for the setup, preparation, and serving and clean up associated with all meal or event services. The area of responsibility includes dining areas, event space and private resident deliveries. The server is responsible for all transactional requirements including billing and payment processing for our resident guests and clients.

**Job Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- Prepare tables for meals, including the complete set of plates, silverware, glassware
- Perform light food duties including bread, salad, appetizers, and dessert preparation.
- Greet guests in a professional and friendly manner. Provide education about the food and beverage menus, how menu items are prepared, the ingredients used, and different cooking methods.
- Inform clients of daily specials
- Check food and beverage for quality and presentation before serving each guest
- Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and efficient manner
- Provide educated wine recommendations to customers
- Deliver wine to the table with appropriate glassware and demonstrate proper wine service techniques
- Receive guest payments and process payments clear and clean tables promptly according to proper sanitation standards
- Complete side duties as required including polishing silverware, glassware, etc.
- Assist in catering and special occasions theme event functions
- Understand and comply with health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures
- To be knowledgeable of the Resident's Rights & Responsibilities and respect and promote the policies
- To attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in Residence that have taken place
- To participate in the Quality Improvement Program
- To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity
- To complete all other tasks as assigned
- Set up and break down of the daily morning buffet
- Assist in set up with any buffet function set up and break down
- Monitor hydration stations

**Requirements**:

- Must possess a Food Handler’s Certificate
- Must perform physical activities in various environmental conditions that require moderate strength, including climbing, lifting up to 40 lbs (18kg), balancing, walking, and handling materials. Must be able to stand for long periods. Must be able to carry trays filled with multiple dishes and drinks. Must deliver food to client’s room in a timely manner.
- Problem-solving and conflict management: must recognize a problem when it arises and be able to resolve it appropriately by using good judgment, tact and initiative according to company procedure.
- Analytical Skills: Must know or quickly learn general accounting and mathematical skills. Must correctly operate various mechanical devices such as POS systems, coffee machines, mixers, light kitchen equipment, dishwashers, etc.
- Language skills: must be fluent in both written and spoken English, other language proficiencies will be considered an asset
- Flexibility: Must be prepared to work overtime when needed and as a team member assist the support of other employees when required.
- Current (within 6 months) Police Clearance and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Influenza vaccination record.
