Are you interested in an exciting opportunity to work as a Deputy Returning Officer for the October 20, 2025 Lac La Biche County Municipal Election? The Legislative Services department is organizing this event and looking for members of the public to pitch in

Your participation in this event will help make the 2025 Lac La Biche County Municipal Election a success

**Voting Stations will be set up in the following communities**:

- Lac La Biche
- Plamondon
- Owl River
- Hylo
- Craigend
- Rich Lake

**Duties and general responsibilities include**:

- Attending a mandatory training session for orientation to the position and to municipal election policies and procedures;
- Setting up the voting stations;
- Assisting voters with filling out forms;
- Assisting with maintaining and updating the Elector Registry;
- Maintaining the ballot box, ballots, and voting booth;
- Guiding voters to poll areas;
- Maintaining a safe voting environment by ensuring peace and order at the stat
- Conducting the unofficial count and communicating the results; Returning the ballot boxes and other materials to the Returning Officer.

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Be legally entitled to work in Canada;
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age;
- Be able to communicate fluently in English (verbally and in writing);
- Ability to communicate well in French or other languages is considered an asset;
- Be able to sit and/or stand for an extended period of time;
- Have a reliable form of transportation to get to and from the Voting Station;
- Provide a valid criminal record check (completed within the last 6 months);
- Preference will be given to those individuals that have previous experience working as a Deputy Returning Officer, Polling Clerk, Enumerator or other similar service for Federal, Provincial or Municipal elections and census;

**Position Details**:
**Dates and Hours of Work**:

- A date in late September/early October, 2025 - All Deputy Returning Officers are required to attend a mandatory training session (4 to 6 hours) for orientation to the position and election procedures and processes.
- May be requested to work Advanced Voting Date(s) (dates and time to be determined)
- October 20, 2025 Election Day - Work 12 to 14 hours at assigned voting station starting at 8:00 a.m. Shift to end between 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Presiding Deputy Returning Officers may be required to work additional hours to transport election materials.

**Rate of Pay**:

- Presiding Deputy Returning Officers (DROs) will be paid a flat rate of $400 for Election Day.
- Deputy Returning Officers will be paid a flat rate of $350 for Election Day.
- Deputy Returning Officers will be paid a flat rate of $175 for attending the mandatory training session.
- Election Workers will be paid by cheques that will be issued after the completion of the training session and after Election Day has concluded.

**Incentives**:

- Meals and refreshments will be provided on Election
- Presiding Deputy Returning Officers will be eligible for mileage.
