Maintenance Technician

**Our Company**:
Creekside Hothouses Ltd. is a greenhouse farming operation with 20 acres of vegetables under glass (since 2000). We are growing a variety of tomatoes as well as bell peppers, cucumbers, and eggplants - at two locations (1) 17830 16th Avenue, Surrey, BC, Canada and (2) 26747 18th Avenue, Langley, BC, Canada. Along with Fresh4U Farms Ltd. in Abbotsford and Fresh4Sunset Farms in Delta, our farms form the Fresh4U Group.

Our farms are committed to producing and packing safe produce through the use of good agricultural practices, with a focus on principles of quality, taste, and food safety. Integral to this commitment is an organized and well-functioning packhouse facility. This role is an integral part of this commitment.

**About the role**:
The **Greenhouse Maintenance Technician**position(“the position”) is responsible to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of our greenhouse facilities. The primary focus of this position will be on maintaining the health and functionality of the greenhouse environments, supporting plant growth, and ensuring optimal conditions for our crops.

**Responsibilities**:
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

- **Routine and Preventative Maintenance**: Perform regular maintenance tasks to keep the greenhouse machinery and infrastructure in excellent condition at all locations. This includes troubleshooting, installing, cleaning, and repairing of greenhouse structures, heating systems, ventilation systems, packhouse equipment, irrigation systems and all other related machinery and equipment.
- **Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate records maintenance activities, and any adjustments made to the greenhouse environment.
- I**nventory Management**:Ensure optimal levels of inventory for various types of greenhouse parts and equipment.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with other team members, including growers, managers and supervisors, to achieve greenhouse production goals. This includes reporting on recommendations on future planning, preventative maintenance goals and related activities.
- **Safety Compliance**: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
- **Other**: Perform other duties as may be assigned by management as the company requires, with consultation with employee.

**Education**:

- Required: post-secondary courses in millwright, electrical, heavy-duty mechanics, power engineering or related fields of study
- Licensing/Registrations/Certification: Millwright TQ an asset
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License

**Experience**:

- Required: 1 - 2 years’ experience combined experience in the fields of millwright, electrical, heavy-duty mechanics, power engineering or equivalent

Other Skills, knowledge and/or abilities:

- Demonstrated ability to analyse, troubleshoot, research and carry out repairs of all machinery and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and manage deadlines and due dates
- Ability to self-monitor and complete tasks according to their deadlines
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully among various language groups and cultures
- Skill and knowledge to use a computer and related apps comfortably and efficiently
- Ability to work collaboratively with management to complete documentation for various programs and obtain corporate goals
- Ability to respond confidently and competently to common inquiries from regulatory agencies such as Technical Safety or Food Safety audits
- Ability to effectively communicate professionally, in English, both verbally and in writing.

**Location and commitments**:

- The position is selected by, and reports to the Operations Manager (or designate)
- High standards of conduct and professionalism are required for this position
- The work location will vary between Creekside Hothouse Ltd. and Fresh4U Farms Ltd
- This position will be working outdoors in all temperatures at times, but mostly indoors in a climate-controlled, smoke-free warehouse and growing environment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $38.00-$40.00 per hour
