**The Opportunity**:
The Projects Specialist provides leadership and coordination for assigned capital infrastructure projects within the Community Services Division (Clients). These include direct responsibility for assigned Facilities & Asset Management projects; consultation and project management for other Safe & Healthy Communities departments and affiliated community agencies. This position also provides technical advice and support to Clients regarding operations, repairs, structural and mechanical maintenance, as well as management of major capital projects in the absence of the Facilities & Asset Management Superintendent.
- Two-year technical diploma (CET or C. Tech.) in Building Construction, Engineering, Building Mechanical Systems, or Architectural Technology plus 3 years experience in building and maintenance repairs, preferably in a recreation or other public sector environment. Eligible for registration as a C.Tech in Alberta through ASET.

OR
- University undergraduate degree in a related field, plus two years experience in building management and maintenance preferably in a recreation or other public sector environment.

PLUS
- Coursework or certification in Project Management, Contract Management or Contract Negotiation desirable.
- LEEDTM Construction Practices and requirements desirable.
- Experience in the management, operations and maintenance of Safe & Healthy Communities facilities and other public sector facilities.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
- Knowledge of land use bylaws, building codes and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Ability to effectively manage a variety of projects in various stages of development.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Demonstrated Successful Project Management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and Clients to plan and deliver capital projects.
- Ability to work with considerable independence in contract management, supervisory and budgetary activities.
- Knowledge of general construction and maintenance practices and principals.
- Knowledge and experience with business software such as Excel, Word & PowerPoint. Microsoft Project preferred.

**Remuneration**:
$42.27 to $44.76 per hour.

**Hours of Work**:
37.5 hours biweekly as scheduled, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

**Additional Information**:
The term of this position is anticipated to be up to two years.
