- Tube Laser/machine operator

Summary
- Pay is negotiable and dependent on experience. Pension and benefits after successful completion of a 3-month probation

Job Duties
- The primary function is to operate the tube laser and cut steel to required drawing dimensions, this includes identifying and loading the laser with correct material using forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Operate machinery, including brake presses, shears, cutting torches, and grinders
- Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to assess materials needed and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal.
- Ability to identify material is an asset.
- Create and construct patterns and guides as templates for metal cutting.
- Monitor quality of cuts for production.
- Perform other duties as required

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- One year or more years’ experience in a similar position
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always
- Prior experience on Trumpf laser beneficial

Additional Requirements (can be attained after hiring)
- Crane safe operation training
- Safe rigging training
- Forklift license
- WHMIS training
- Bobcat operator training

Work Conditions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Some pieces are over 50lbs.
- Constant light physical effort (bending, reaching, carrying light items, walking, standing)
- Occasional heavy physical effort (carrying, lifting or pushing heavy items)
- Regular visual effort required for close monitoring of computer terminals and display panels
- Constant requirement for manual dexterity and coordination
- Overtime as required.
- Hazards associated with a manufacturing environment

Performance Factors
- Requirement to consult with and/or co-ordinate activities with other employees
- Problems or situations are different and require interpretation. Use judgment to identify the most appropriate solution from several options using prior knowledge and experience which may have minor impact beyond the department
- Specific responsibilities and objectives are assigned with mínimal latitude for setting of priorities and decision making, using established practices and procedures. Guidance is available and work is periodically checked for accuracy and completeness.
- Decisions have a considerable effect extending to other departments. Decisions would have limited impact on the organization’s internal operations, services, programs, achievement of objectives or public image.
- Work may involve responsibility for providing training and work guidance to others within the work unit, or while continuing to perform the normal day to day activities of the position.
