**ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES**

**This role is part of** the ESG team within our Legal & External Affairs department

**The role is responsible for** Managing Imperial Tobacco Canada’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System and the Business Continuity agenda.

**Reports to**:Sean Sampson

**Reporting Level**: (No Direct Reports)

**Geographic Scope**:Canada

**WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR**

**ENSURE HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ARE PROPERLY EXECUTED AND IN LINE WITH EHS ROADMAP, ISO STANDARDS & OHS LEGISLATION**:

- Ensure monitoring & compliance with legislative requirements.
- Maintain document structure in line with EHS Roadmap and ISO 45001.
- Manage risk assessment process in line CCOHS guidelines within the CAN/CSA-Q850-97 risk management framework.

**MANAGE PARTICIPATIVE APPROACH INTERNALLY & WITH AmSSA**:

- Coordinate with representatives of the Operating Team (OHS safety committee), to ensure participative approach to KPI’s, policy management, hazard identification and risk assessments.
- Act as key point of contact for internal stakeholders requiring H&S insights for business activities, (e.g., Travel policy, Prevention of Communicable Disease, New product, and process forums etc.).
- Represent Canada within AmSSA EH&S forums.

**HEALTH & SAFETY REPORTING**:

- Submit monthly health and safety incidents in line with BAT reporting requirements and relevant provincial requirements.

**CONDUCT RISK ASSESSMENTS**:

- Review current and future processes to ensure hazard identification process completed and update risk register and deploy mitigations in line with the risk control hierarchy.
- Complete risk assessments for social activities and corporate events.
- Visit each DC annually to complete risk assessment process.

**CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT PROCESS**:

- Maintain improvement plan, prioritizing opportunities, and monitoring success of initiatives. Maintenance of share point page and digital forms.

**DEVELOP COMMS IN LINE WITH ESG FRAMEWORK AND ALIGNED WITH INTERNAL & EXTERNAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Campaign management: Develop and deploy OH&S campaigns in line with AmSSA campaign calendar.
- Participate in identified workstreams in line with ESG corporate strategy.

**ENSURE BCP AGENDA IS EXECUTED ON TIME & IN FULL**:

- Work with internal heads of functions and external consultants to ensure BCM agenda is completed each year in line with global guidelines to ensure business readiness in times of crisis.
- Facilitate BCP process during periods of business disruption.

Review global risk continuum to anticipate areas of potential disruption and ensure corporate readiness.

**ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE**

**Experience Required**
- 2+ years working experience in OH&S and/or BCP management
- Comprehensive knowledge of Hazard and Risk Management.

**Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required**
- Learning Agility - The role requires an individual who is able to move seamlessly from Occupational Health and Safety to Business Continuity with a focus on the details and the ability to quickly recognize the appropriate legislative and organizational elements that are applicable.
- Engage and Inspire - This role requires an individual who is able to engage stakeholders, internal and external, to participate and integrate OHS & Business Continuity into their plans and ways of working. It also requires the ability to communicate through the entire organization updates and requirements for OHS and BCP.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise and implement time management to accommodate emergency situations and well-developed knowledge and experience of working in a corporate environment, with a comprehensive understanding of all processes, procedures, and systems.
- Practical hands-on experience developing and implementing OHS Policies and Programs and comprehensive knowledge of Hazard and Risk Management.

**Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required**
- Professional designation or membership of an association in occupational health and safety (CRSP) (an asset) or Degree qualification in Health & Safety or related field
- Extensive knowledge of the OHSA and other relevant legislation

**BENEFICIAL**
- Formal qualifications in OH&S / safety management desirable.
- Broad knowledge of Acts, regulations, Codes of Practice, Standards, Guidelines, Industrial Awards and BAT policy and procedures which impact on the workplace.
