Calgary, Canada SMART Technologies Full time

**Purpose of the Position**:
The Business Intelligence Analyst (BI Analyst) is a translator of data into information that will help SMART make effective business decisions. These business decisions will drive SMART to achieve its short-term goals and long-term strategies.

You will work with Business Process Owners (BPOs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and others to bring facts, and data literacy to the business. This will include understanding analytic requirements, identifying data related issues in systems and business processes, building out reports that drive action, and ensuring proper understanding and usage of the information. This will all be done by also ensuring SMART follows the various global rules regarding personal identifiable information (PII).

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- **Translator of Data**: You will act as the bridge between data and business stakeholders. This includes collecting, collating, and organizing data in an effective and efficient manner.
- **Driving Business Goals**: You will play a crucial role in getting SMART to its goals. You will do this by analyzing data, trends, and delivering analytics that enable and allow us all to act.
- **Collaboration**: You will be working closely with teams and individuals to gain a strong understanding of the business, processes, and required solutions. Some individuals have fantastic analytics and number skills, others need more support. This is why it is important that you have patience to help teach and guide others when it comes to understanding data and the results (data literacy)
- **Data Issue**: You will work with Data Quality Analysts to have data corrected in the system. We want to limit the number of _bandages_ to fix data in reports, it is not the correct place. This involves working with Business Analyst to review process and plug the holes that lead to bad data.
- **Report Development**: You will build easy to digest reports and other analytics outputs. SMART utilizes Power BI, Python, and R for our various analytics. There are also some in system reports that are developed as well. We are always expanding our data science and analytics knowledge, to ensure we can meet goals in a timely manner.
- **Data Privacy**: You will take training on Personal Identifiable Information (PII). You will make sure we do not breach PII laws. In a case where we do, we will follow the process and procedures to correct, and inform our Data Governance Council of the issues and action taken.

**General Responsibilities**:

- Learn, apply, and contribute to SMART’s BI Analyst best practice and standards.
- Participate in the continual maintenance of a shared ontology and vocabulary across all areas of SMART.
- Build effective working relationships with all employees at SMART.
