Mechanical Estimator (Fabrication) Client: EDL Building Solutions Location: Edmonton Alberta **Salary**: $ $80K - 120K per year - HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems using estimating tools such as AutoBid, Bluebeam, and Excel. - Proven experience in a mechanical estimating role within the commercial or institutional sectors. - Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) integration is considered an asset. Key Responsibilities - Review and interpret project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements. - Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to gather essential data and clarify project objectives. - Calculate and prepare comprehensive cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems using estimating tools such as AutoBid, Bluebeam, and Excel. - Analyze material, labor, and equipment needs for each project and identify areas for cost-saving through value engineering. - Present well-structured proposals and cost breakdowns to internal teams and clients, either virtually or in-person. - Maintain and update a detailed database of material and labor costs to ensure ongoing estimating accuracy and efficiency. - Participate actively in company-provided training programs to enhance technical knowledge and sales acumen. Skills & Competencies - In-depth knowledge of mechanical and/or refrigeration systems and applicable building codes. - High proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications. - Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail. - Skilled in the use of estimating software (AutoBid), markup tools (Bluebeam), and Microsoft Excel. - Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. **Qualifications**: - Journeyman certification in Sheet Metal/HVAC or Plumbing would be an asset - Proven experience in a mechanical estimating role within the commercial or institutional sectors. - Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) integration is considered an asset.
