**Who We Are.**
The British Columbia Institute of Technology Student Association (BCITSA) is a non-profit student services and advocacy organization at BCIT with a mandate to enhance student life. This includes the Food Operations that are located on BCIT's Burnaby Campus _. _For over 50 years, the BCITSA’s food operations has been the natural habitat of the BCIT students to come enjoy our food and congregate offering aid
- back atmosphere, modern décor, and fresh, locally sourced meals.

**The Position.**
The Prep Cook - Dishwasher is responsible for washing and organizing dishes, maintaining the dishwasher and general cleaning. This is your contribution to overall customer service and satisfaction. You maintain orderly garbage cans and do recycling. You also assist other kitchen staff with duties as necessary with a courteous and efficient attitude. Assist line cooks in some food preparation and cooking.

More specifically, your key duties and responsibilities will be the following:

- Clean dishes and utensils with dishwasher, and by hand when needed
- Organize dishes in the dish pit and put them where they belong
- Keep dish area organized to maximize efficiency, and minimize the amount of broken dishes
- Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing equipment and area. Refill dishwashing chemicals when needed.
- Keep dish and other kitchen areas clean and sanitized
- Empty garbage and take bags out to dumpster; break down cardboard and take to recycling bin
- Check chemical levels on a daily basis and asked kitchen manager to re-order when levels are low.
- Do sanitizer test once at the beginning of shift and once mid-way through shift.

Other related duties are the following:

- Prepare food and portion it appropriately
- Prepare high quality food efficiently to contribute to overall customer service and satisfaction
- Store and prepare all product at the correct temperatures
- Label, date and rotate all product, and store according to type
- Report any product waste
- Help kitchen staff during dish pit slow times
- Take down catering events and set up catering event
- Understand and follow all policies and procedures
- Ensure pub is a safe environment for all users

In addition, you must have:

- Six months of relevant experience
- Ability to work under pressure
