Ottawa, Canada Standards Council of Canada | Conseil canadien des normes Full time

Job Description
Standards and conformity assessment contribute to social value, reduce trade barriers, and spur innovation and competitiveness. As a responsive, resilient, and forward-thinking organization, the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) works with partners across various levels of government, industry and throughout its national and international networks to ensure Canadians reap the benefits of standardization. Standardization is a powerful economic driver and SCC represents and advances Canada’s interests on the global stage and provides comprehensive strategies that allow Canadian businesses and innovators to access established and emerging markets - opening a world of possibilities. It is within this context that the organization is seeking a Vice President, Standards, and International Relations (Vice President).

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Vice President is responsible for providing strategic leadership, oversight, and direction on national, regional, and international standards programs of the SCC. The role also provides leadership, governance, and support for the management of standard development activities, in particular the National Standards of Canada, as well as related matters. The Vice President is also responsible for supporting and coordinating Canada’s representation at international organizations, such as, ISO, IEC, and regional organizations such as COPANT, PASC, FINCA, and RNF. In partnership with the CEO, and the broader executive team, the Vice President ensures that the corporate priorities under their direction, as defined in the corporate plan, are delivered effectively. Finally, the Vice President is a transformational leader capable of developing and leading high performing teams that can work together in a collaborative manner within their own branch, across SCC, and with domestic and international stakeholders.

The Standards Council of Canada has adopted a flexible workplace approach with most employees able to choose whether they wish to work from home or the office most of the time. We thank all applicants for their interest, however only those under consideration for the role will be contacted.
