Together we are more than 5,000 dedicated faculty, librarians and staff supporting the University of Victoria’s diverse academic programs, world-class research and commitment to civic engagement. **The salary range for this position is**: - **Recruitment range: $67,453 - $71,43**0 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity. - **Performance range: starting salary to max of $75,685** is available through annual performance increases. **_An employee in this classification is excluded from the bargaining unit as defined in the Labour Relations Code_** - Job Summary**Mandate**: The Budget Associate plays an active role in optimizing academic resource allocations within the VP Academic portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Analyst, the incumbent promotes best practices in accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting to provide data-driven insights for executives to support academic programs. The position deals with sensitive and confidential information and must demonstrate discretion, professional judgment and tact while operating under timelines requiring adjustment of priorities and balancing of workload. **Objectives**: - The incumbent oversees the VPAC Office’s operating budgeting, forecasting and analysis for the purpose of enhancing management reporting and decision support. - Use data-driven insight to inform decision making. This involves using data analysis tools to extract meaningful information from data such as patterns, trends and data visualization to interpret data within an post-secondary context. - Job RequirementsThis position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to at least 3 years of experience working in a complex organization and a Diploma in Business Administration. **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**: - Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive and respectful working and learning environment. - Requires a solid background in finance. - Requires a strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) which includes the ability to read and interpret operating statement and balance sheet data. - Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize work. - Advanced level skills with Microsoft Excel. - An aptitude for learning new software and systems. - Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective communication with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners. - Interpersonal Skills to interact with diverse population of students, staff and faculty. - Flexible team player, willing to adapt to changes and challenges. - Requires problem-solving skills and creativity to develop solutions in an increasingly complex environment. - Attention to detail for accurate documentation, record-keeping, and maintaining the integrity of communications and information. **Territory Acknowledgement**:We acknowledge and respect the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Esquimalt) Peoples on whose territory the university stands, and the Lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ Peoples whose historical relationships with the land continue to this day. **What UVic Offers**:To learn more click here.
