**Student Life Officer**

**Start Date: As Soon As Possible**

**Salary Range: $39,764.35 to $53,798.82**

**Location: Henlow Campus and/or remotely, as required**

**Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week)**

Reporting to the Manager, Student Services, Financial Aid & Awards, the Student Life Officer is responsible for the planning and logistics for multiple new student orientations and a variety of student events throughout the year which contribute to and complement the overall MITT student experience.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- Collaborates with all MITT departments to organize and deliver new student orientation for each new intake throughout the year. This includes orientation events for high school, post-secondary, and post-graduate students.
- Collaborates with Student Services and Academic to ensure orientation information is relevant and meaningful to new MITT students and is delivered with a balance of prescriptive and developmental approaches.
- Works closely with the Student Life Coordinator to schedule and plan all orientation logistics and to facilitate a meaningful overall orientation experience for new students.
- Works alongside student staff and volunteers who are part of the orientation delivery team.
- Work with the Student Life Coordinator to gather student feedback in order to continuously update and improve orientation events and content.
- Assists in the year-round coordination and logistics of student life programming and events for current students. Examples of topics or themes may include but are not limited to: health and wellness, financial awareness, community awareness, service learning and volunteerism; intercultural awareness on-campus and in the workplace, sports and recreation, professional and social networking.
- Assists with the coordination and logistics of student programming and events led by other MITT departments. Examples of topics or themes may include but are not limited to: career development, employment and industry awareness; immigration and citizenship, mental health awareness and promotion; continuing education and further training; academic preparedness; Indigenous, International, new Canadian and mature students.
- Works closely with the Student Life Coordinator to facilitate different student groups throughout the year (i.e. Women in Trades and Technology; Professionals in Health, etc.). This may include acting as either the lead facilitator of a group to ensure regular activity and continuity is maintained, or, taking a supporting role as the staff facilitator to assist students who are leading active student groups needing access to MITT facilities, communications and budget support.
- Assist with running the MITT Volunteer Program alongside the Student Life Coordinator. This includes the organization and administration of the volunteers and volunteering opportunities.
- Maintains knowledge and proficiency in all MITT administrative and student records systems as appropriate.
- Participates in professional development opportunities.
- Provide support to Student Services, Financial Aid & Awards department with day-to-day tasks as assigned.
- Represents MITT as needed at special events throughout the year (Convocation, recruitment events, etc.).
- Completes other duties as assigned, including those not directly related to student life or events.

**Required Qualifications and Experience**:

- A combination of related education and experience may be considered._
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree in a relevant discipline related to education, community development, recreation management, business/marketing, humanities or the social sciences is required.
- 1 or more years of work experience in a college or university environment involving the delivery of student programming and events is preferred; event planning and group facilitation in other professional settings will also be considered.

**Preferred Qualifications and Experience**:

- Have experience working with one or more of the following student categories: domestic/international post-secondary, Indigenous, first-generation, adult/mature, technical/trades/professional studies.
