**Position: Youth Basketball Coach (8 week contract)**

Salary/Hours: $32-$35/hr; hours will be completed Tuesday-Friday afternoons 1:30-6:30

Location: 415 Willowdale Avenue and local indoor basketball court (within 5km of 415 Willowdale Avenue)

Position Summary: The Youth Basketball Coach will work with marginalized children and youth between the ages of 6-18, alongside 2 youth workers to learn (TEACH?) basketball skills and drills and also support and encourage the youth as they make choices to move to healthier lifestyles. We are looking for experienced coaches, who have played basketball at the post-secondary level, or have experience coaching basketball and working with youth.

Details: The Youth Basketball Coach will be primarily responsible for:

- Assisting with program planning and delivery to meet the needs of children and youth registered for the basketball program.
- Lead and work with youth to develop skills and abilities of each player and develop a plan to improve their skills and playing strategies.
- Prepare lessons assisting with the facilitation of life skills training and leadership development.
- Nurture and develop all athletes potential skills and abilities and evaluate and discuss progress with players as well as the youth workers.

Qualifications:

- Experienced coach who has played basketball at the post-secondary level and has experience coaching youth basketball.
- Ability to work well under pressure and exercise good judgment in assessing and resolving difficult situations.
- Effective written and oral communication skills and computer literacy; other language skills a definite asset.
- Good interpersonal skills; conflict resolution skills; a self-starter.
- Drivers License and access to a vehicle would be preferred.
- First Aid Training and CPR certification preferred.
