**Position Title: Volunteer Coordinator (Summer)**

**Reporting To: Club Manager**

**Term: Contract - 12 weeks, June - August**

**OBJECTIVE AND POSITION OVERVIEW**

Reporting to the Club Manager, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementation of the Summer Day Camp program for children ages 5 to 12 years old. This position assists with researching, planning and coordination of weekly off-site excursions for the summer camp program, including booking, transportation, safety and evaluation of community excursions for all four Club sites.

**FUNCTIONS**
- Responsible for care, nurturing, supervision and safety of children between ages 5 and 12 years old in Summer Day Camp program
- Responsible for planning special events and external field trips for children and youth enrolled in Summer Day Camp Program, including booking, transportation, safety and evaluation, all within a budget framework.
- Ensuring all excursions and field trips are in compliance with all public health measures for COVID 19 as well as BGCGH COVID 19 protocols and those of external facilities as part of field trips.
- Work with Summer Coordinator in scheduling off-site program activities during Summer Day Camp, ensuring safety and proper staff ratios at all times.
- Maintain program supplies and ensure that all program related equipment is functional and in safe working condition, including First Aid kits.
- Ensuring staff travelling offsite have a check list of supplies including first aid supplies, water, phone, etc
- Provide daily updates to Summer Coordinator on plans, confirmations and issues relating to the summer program.
- Report any incidents and/or accidents immediately to the Club Manager
- Participate in staff training and orientation sessions
- Establish open communication with parents/care givers
- Maintain professional relationships and work as a team member with supervisors, peers, members, volunteers and parents
- Perform other duties as requested by the Club Manager

**PERFORMANCE MEASURES**

Performance will be measured on a number of aspects:

- Adherence to policies and procedures
- Regular attendance at work
- Workplace organization & completion of daily duties
- Team communication - staff clarity on daily plans and responsibilities
- Accurate completion of weekly report requirements in a timely manner
- Positive parent and member feedback and meeting client demands and complaints to clients’ satisfaction

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Experience Required**
- Demonstrated experience working with children and youth
- Experience planning and implementing children and youth programs
- Class 4 Driver’s License is an asset but not required
- First Aid Certification
- A criminal background check is required for all employees of the Boys and Girls Club

**Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities**
- Ability and willingness to engage in activities and sports recreationally
- Planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating age appropriate social, recreational and outdoor activities, for school-aged children and youth
- Excellent interpersonal behavior and communication skills
- Being a positive, supportive and cooperative role model to children and youth
- Excellent time and stress management skills
- Knowledge in team building

**Job Types**: Fixed term contract, Seasonal

**Salary**: From $15.50 per hour
