**ROLE OVERVIEW**:
The Volunteer Program Coordinator will be responsible for the re-development and management of the Volunteer Host Program at Halifax Stanfield. They will be responsible for the ongoing recruitment, screening, selection, training, motivation and evaluation of HIAA Volunteer Host Team members. A key component of this position will be the research and promotion of volunteering opportunities and maintaining a positive image and reputation of the organization within the community. This position will be tasked with reaching out and meeting with organizations/institutions that will provide us input into the new program they develop. The Coordinator will be required to schedule shifts for the volunteers and ensure they have the resources needed to fulfill their duties; troubleshoot; adjust schedules in the event of no-shows, illness, etc. The Coordinator acts as a primary lead resource for volunteers and manages all volunteer programs and activities.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Completed post-secondary education in Business Administration, Business Technology or related diploma or equivalent experience
- Minimum of two or more years experience working in an office environment
- Experience working in a customer service role
- Must have experience managing a volunteer program
- Fluently bilingual (English and French) is considered an asset
- Advanced skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Microsoft Publisher
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
