**POSITION SCOPE**:
Utilizing person-directed plans, the Coach will provide training and support to FUTURES participants with emphasis on personal development, employment, life skills, leisure, and activities. Ensuring the safety of participants while carrying out activities is an important consideration.
The Coach works independently and within a team and can work responsibly without direct supervision, as required. The Coach will also provide support and direction to hourly staff, volunteers, and contracted service providers, when required.
This position is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with training events outside these hours. The individual in this position reports to the Program Manager at our Glendale location.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
FUTURES support healthy relationships among all people and organizations with whom we partner, internally and externally. The Coach will contribute to this direction through their respectful behaviour and attitude towards others.
The Coach supports people in maximizing their independence and self-reliance by providing opportunities for continuous learning and by supporting and respecting choice, advocacy, and self-determination through person-directed planning.
The Coach will represent FUTURES positively and professionally, both onsite and in the community. Professionalism will be demonstrated by dress, attitude, and all work-related interactions. Staff of FUTURES are also expected to maintain an appropriate image within the community such as when on personal social media.
Professional communication is an expectation. All forms of communication will be respectful, clear, accurate and effective. Written documentation will be professional and will demonstrate proficiency with written English.

**DUTIES: SOCIAL ENTERPRISE**
- Coach participants in all areas of production within Assembly Plus, Futures Birds, Futures Café, or Futures Impressions providing feedback throughout.
- Implement effective teaching strategies to ensure contract production is completed in an efficient manner.
- Be the main point of contact for designated contracts associated with FUTURES social enterprises. Maintain consistent communication with contract leads.
- Work in collaboration with the Business Development Coordinator on setting realistic guidelines for completion.
- Assist in scheduling of contract production and participate in the completion of contract work.
- Maintain high level of quality control.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties as required.
- Ensure a safe work environment is maintained and all participants follow proper safety procedures.
**PROGRAMMING**
- Develop program plans based on the five service pillars of FUTURES; Social/Leisure, Life Skills, Employment, Personal Development and Community Development. Each program must include staged learning lesson plans with desired outcomes and transition plans. Each program must have a 3-month period.
- Implement effective teaching strategies to support participants in each activity within the service pillar.
- Create mini activities to introduce an upcoming program to participants.
- Provide facilitation techniques that allow choice and decision making.
- Carry out program activities with participants.
- Ensure all staff, volunteers and contracted service providers are updated and informed of their role in each program.
- Support participants in attaining their goals and document progress.
- Transport participants to community functions, if required.
**PERSONAL SUPPORT SERVICES**
- Provide appropriate role modelling for participants through behaviour, dress and attitude while supporting participants to do the same.
- Provide personal care to the employee, as required, in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Assist as needed with meals and snacks while being alert to the employee’s preferences/requirements.
- Ensure the safety and security of participants while respecting their choices.
- Physically support participants with activities, if required.
- Encourage and facilitate peer interaction among the participants.
**COMMUNICATION**
- Ensure the development of good working relationships, and effective participant support, through communication with the participant, supervisor, co-workers, parents/caregivers, and service providers.
- Communicate verbally and/or in writing, in a timely way, with parents/caregivers regarding any relevant information within confidentiality guidelines and receive information from same.
