Corporate Fleet Manager

Based at our Vancouver plant location, we are hiring a Corporate Fleet Manager. This role is responsible for developing and executing initiatives to optimize fleet performance while supporting operations across Western Canada and Washington State. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position is responsible for establishing corporate fleet policies, completing performance analysis & developing strategic optimization plans, integrating technology, working with procurement for fleet purchases, and ensuring compliance with regulatory oversight.
Annual base salary range $135,000 - $145,000

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation and logistics operations including optimizing routing, asset management, cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Establish corporate policies, SOPs and best practices for fleet operations including standard driver training/onboarding, driver safety and electronic logging to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborating with relevant business lines to achieve continuous improvement of fleet operations.
- Ensure efficient routing of trucks and trailers across all divisions, focusing on training routers and optimizing routes to meet business needs.
- Analyze fleet operating costs company-wide, develop and monitor KPIs for divisional Fleet Superintendents to ensure efficient operations, collect and analyze data to facilitate data-driven decision making for corporate logistic optimization.
- Act as a power user for logistics software including Omnitracs, ELD, In-House Driver Mobile Apps and other logistics software as required.
- Conduct weekly fleet calls with divisional Fleet Superintendents to support operations, gather business requirements and implement strategic initiatives.
- Oversee insurance renewals for trucks and trailers, ensuring accuracy and accountability of assets in each division.
- Act as the corporate NSC officer, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial and safety regulations. Escalate non-compliance to divisional managers and Chief Operating Officer.
- Audit operating divisions to ensure compliance with transportation and logistics policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Collaborating with operations and the Corporate Purchasing Manager, develop and maintain all truck and trailer specifications.
- Alongside the Purchasing Department, facilitate full cycle fleet procurement process including but not limited to, equipment research, equipment testing, drafting reports, and making recommendations to Executive Management.
- Provide strategic transportation, logistics advice and solutions to operations in addition to troubleshooting logistics issues.
- Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to the executive team.
- Working with the purchasing department and Plant Managers in overseeing third-party haulers, including reviews of third-party hauler customer service, pricing, contracts, and compliance.
- Assist the sales department with oversight of key finished good customers' logistics and rail logistics.
- Plan, organize and host the West Coast Reduction Ltd. (“WCRL”) Annual Fleet Meeting.
- Support the planning & implementation of integrating and merging new business units into the current WCRL transportation infrastructure.
- Build relationships with key third-party contacts such as vendor partners, external consultants, industry associations and regulatory bodies.
- Adhere to the company Code of Conduct and all WCRL’s policies.
- Foster a positive team and company culture by ensuring treatment of others is respectful and aligned with company values.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or a related field is an asset.
- Professional Logistician (P. Log) designation or CITT-Canadian Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP) designation and/or equivalent designation is an asset.
- Minimum of 10 years’ previous Fleet Management experience, with a general knowledge of all areas of Transportation and Logistics.
- Experience working within a business operating in the western provinces is an asset.
- Excellent knowledge of computerized dispatching and routing systems.
- Previous experience operating in a multi-jurisdictional environment is an asset.
- Solid understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of relevant provincial and federal trucking legislation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in addition to exceptional interpersonal, listening, and interpretative skills.
