The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) prosecutes persons charged with Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and provincial statute offences. The ACPS promotes safe communities by vigorously prosecuting cases involving serious and violent crime and working with individuals and organizations in the community to identify and implement improved and alternative approaches to the administration of criminal justice.

The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) has an exciting opportunity for one Permanent Disclosure Clerk position in their Edmonton Rural and Regional Response Office (ERRRO).

The Disclosure Clerk reports to the Regional Office Manager and is responsible for processing disclosure on files.

This position works within the guidelines established by the ACPS to provide a range of central support services to Crown Prosecutors and staff. This process of providing a complete file to an accused or defense counsel in accordance with legal requirements involves; scanning material and ingesting electronic documents, review for quality control, answering enquiries received in various communication formats. The incumbent makes decisions regarding the sensitivity of information in police reports and statements to determine whether that information must be redacted. Additional duties will include liaising with internal parties and external stakeholders, maintaining electronic legal files, completion and processing of all necessary documentation for court, records management, and performing other administrative duties that are required to ensure that Branch goals and objectives are met.

You may be exposed to highly sensitive and confidential information, which may be of a graphic nature that may have a strong emotional impact. Graphic material may include, but is not limited to, assault victim(s), autopsy photos, 911 audios and material relating to child abuse investigations.

Accuracy and attention to detail is extremely important in this position.

This position will work independently within the disclosure team to ensure adherence to Crown disclosure obligations under the law. There will be extensive contact with prosecutors, paralegals and legal assistants involved in the criminal prosecution process.
