We are seeking an Environmental Assessment Officer to join our Transmission & Distribution Environment and Engagement Department. Under the general direction of the Senior Environmental Assessment Officer, you will lead the development and coordination of environmental assessments related to planned Manitoba Hydro transmission and station projects, as well as support public and indigenous engagement and heritage resource programs. **_ Responsibilities:_** - Plan, lead, and manage environmental assessment programs and preparation of Environmental Assessment Reports/Impact Statements. - Write environmental assessment reports, project descriptions, position papers, and correspondence at a high degree of accuracy for a variety of internal and external audiences. - Organize and coordinate inter-departmental and consultant project teams in the development of environmental assessments. - Track and assist with managing schedules, budgets, and progress for completion of environmental assessments. - Provide advice and assist in activities related to public and indigenous engagement and heritage resource programs. - Contribute to responses for project inquiries from regulators and interested parties. - Develop collaborative working relationships, internally and externally, necessary to identify and incorporate best practices in - areas of strategic importance to environmental assessment and successful licensing of capital projects.- Maintain proficiency in evolving contemporary environmental assessment methods and processes that may be employed in assessing and quantifying the potential for environmental impacts. **_ Qualifications:_** - A four-year degree in Physical, Biological, or Social Science, or Resource Management from a university of recognized standing, plus five years' experience in Environmental Impact Assessment, or Environmental Licensing, with four years of experience directly related to major developments, preferably energy developments. - A master's degree in Physical, Biological or Social Science, or Resource Management would be a significant asset. - An anthropology/archaeology-related educational background and or experience with conducting heritage resource impact - assessments would be a significant asset.- Experience with planning and conducting environmental impacts assessments for major projects in Manitoba/Canada. - Exceptional writing, editing, and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience in developing a range of communication materials for internal and external audiences, including briefing materials, recommendations, discussion papers, reports, speeches, presentations, correspondences, and articles for media and academic publication. - Experience in working with and in multi-disciplinary study teams. - Demonstrated understanding of environmental regulatory processes associated with the Manitoba Environment Act, the Impact Assessment Act, Canadian Energy Regulator Act, and other environmental regulatory requirements for project development and operation. The range for the classification is $46.06 - $63.58 Hourly, $88,251.02 - $121,841.46 Annually.
