We are seeking an experienced Environmental Officer, who will provide technical and communications support for environmental
protection activities during major construction stages of transmission and distribution assets. The successful incumbent will perform
field and office duties to ensure assets are constructed in compliance with environmental approvals (licences, permits,
authorizations, etc.) and/or environmental protection measures. **This is an 18-month term position with full-time hours.**

**_ Responsibilities:_**
- Oversee activities related to daily ongoing environmental protection practices and implementation of Environmental Protection

Plans (EPP). This includes inspections and reporting to ensure compliance with EPPs, other regulatory approvals, Enterprise
policies, and the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Act as a delegate for the Environmental Planner at major construction meetings through all stages of asset development, as
- required.- Participate in the collection of information and data related to any biophysical or socio-economic monitoring plans.
- Collaborate and prepare EPPs and other supporting documentation as part of regulatory and stakeholder engagement
- processes.- Prepare and submit reports regularly to ensure thorough documentation and recording of environmental protection aspects of
- asset construction and operation.- Participate in internal and external multi-discipline inspection teams.
- Develop, collect, and maintain environmental management information in digital databases.
- Host and facilitate contractor pre-start up meetings including meeting agendas, meeting summaries, and all other related
- documentation.- Promote safety and environmental compliance with Provincial and Federal regulations as well as industry standards.
- Respond to and undertake investigations of environmental incidents and prepare written reports and recommendations.
- Liaise with project and operations staff, contractors, and outside regulatory agencies, as required.
- Ensure all work completed is in compliance with Enterprise standards and procedures and is consistent with Enterprise

Policies.

**_ Qualifications:_**
- Four-year degree in Environmental Studies, Natural Sciences, Resource Management, or other environmental discipline from

a recognized university with three years of directly related experience.
OR
- Diploma in Natural Resource Management or other environmental discipline from a recognized college or university with four

years of directly related experience.

- Experience relating to construction and other contractors while conducting environmental site inspections, delivering findings,

and authoring reports.
- Knowledge of environmental regulatory compliance requirements.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Possess mature judgment; ability to succeed with mínimal supervision both independently and as a team member.
- Demonstrated ability to operate computers; familiar with Microsoft Office, spatial mapping software (such as ArcGIS), and
- mobile data collection.- Experience and familiarity with transmission and distribution infrastructure and systems is an asset.
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position, as well as an adequate mechanical and technical aptitude to
- satisfy all requirements of working with equipment and tools in remote conditions.- Required to travel by rotary or fixed wing aircraft, UTV, snowmobile and boat as necessitated by job conditions.
- Working knowledge of construction and/or electrical industry safety practices.
- Amenable to work assignments requiring absences from home base (Winnipeg) for brief periods of time (2-10 days).
- Must be prepared to travel and to work outside normal business hours.

**_ Salary Range_**

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification
