We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, highly organized, driven and experienced Administrative Assistant to support the Senate Committees Directorate in managing and prioritizing competing demands in a fast-paced, results-focused environment. Your passion for excellence and quality service must be second to none. The successful incumbent will bring expertise in a broad range of administrative areas and must possess a strong ability to communicate effectively across numerous channels, demonstrate a high level of autonomy, and be able to effectively manage a variety of tasks and prepare responses to inquiries from senior officials and/or parliamentarians, other directorates, government departments, the media and the public.

**Open to**

Open to the general public to staff one (1) determinate position of six (6) months within the Senate Committees Directorate.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

**Prerequisites**
- High school diploma OR an acceptable combination of education, training and / or related work experience;
- Experience providing administrative support in an office environment, offering services such as writing formal correspondence, briefing materials and reports, formatting documents, organizing and scheduling meetings and managing electronic filing systems;
- Solid experience with MS Office products;
- Experience dealing with senior officials and/or parliamentarians;
- Strong research, analytical and communications skills as they relate to policy review and legislative rules and procedures;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages;
- Ability to work independently as well as build relationships across the organization;
- Detail oriented, well organized, and able to coordinate and manage competing priorities and timelines;
- Knowledge of the Senate, its policies and the legislative process is considered an asset.
