Summer Student Labourer

**Overview**
**Duties**
- Assist in the preparation, cleanup, and care of field plot trials. This will involve weeding and harvesting field plots.
- Grow, care, and harvest plants in a greenhouse setting.
- Grow and harvest fungi within a lab setting.
- Load and unload materials as needed for projects.
- Follow instructions from supervisors to complete tasks accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times. Attention to cleanliness is essential when working with living organisms.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members on a variety of research projects conducted by the researchers within the lab.
**Requirements**:
- Has completed a minimum of 9 credit hours in the academic term immediately preceding employment as a university student or was registered as a high school student.
- University students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0. No equivalent requirement for high school students.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physically demanding tasks in the summer heat.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions accurately.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with others from a variety of backgrounds.
- Willingness to learn new skills involving laboratory techniques.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
- Have a valid class 5 drivers license and be willing to drive in highway conditions.
- Having no allergies to bees is recommended due to high exposure to bees during the field season.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal
Contract length: 2 months
Pay: $15.80-$18.33 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
Additional pay:
- Overtime pay

- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 Licence (preferred)
