New employees must provide documentation/proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St. Mary’s General Hospital. Staff will require clearance from Employee Health and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.

**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for providing operational and strategic direction while maintaining high-end quality financial and clinical reporting and advising on all areas of St. Mary’s General Hospital’s (SMGH) financial and business operations. The Manager will be a key contributor, oriented to working with a broad range of stakeholders on key projects related to health system performance. The Manager will ensure that he/she and the Financial Planning and Decision Support team provides a highly customer-oriented approach to all key SMGH stakeholders.

**Position Requirements**:
Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree Program.

Minimum three (3) to five (5) years practical related experience.

Expert in the Hospital Funding Formula.

Experience contributing to strategic development on financial improvement and sustainability.

Proven ability to focus on technical details and methodologies also required.

Strong, well-developed business management skills including strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, analytics and decision support.

Exceptional team building, analytical, writing and presentation skills as well as a demonstrated ability to lead people, accomplish identified as well as new goals and objectives to achieve desired outcomes.

Ability to successfully network across the organization and externally with partners such as the LHIN and other healthcare sectors including the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Successfully able to perform their function in accordance with prescribed standards that focuses on the priority of People Safety and the delivery of the highest standard of Quality Care.

Demonstrate the physical and mental capabilities necessary for proper and efficient performance of the essential duties of the position.

**Position Responsibilities**:
**Human Resources Management**

**Manages employee resources ensuring appropriate capacities, minimized risk exposure, quality of service delivery and cost efficiencies.**

**Assesses staff performance to identify competency gaps and development opportunities.**

**Hires, promotes, disciplines and terminates staff, as required.**

**Manages employee relations issues, promoting a teamwork environment where staff can interact productively and efficiently.**

**Develops, implements and communicates performance measures; conducts regular performance appraisals of direct reports, and provides ongoing coaching and feedback for direct and indirect reports.**

**Monitors/addresses employee absenteeism as per hospital attendance program.**

**Maintains appropriate staffing levels within approved operating budget e.g. minimizes overtime.**

**Identifies potential opportunities for staff development through recognition of individual concerns, motives, strengths and limitations**

**Directs and oversees all general functional areas of operation in Financial Planning and Decision Support effectively and efficiently.**

**Adheres to the development and continuation of a safe and effective work environment by ensuring staff are equipped with all required Personal Protection Equipment, properly trained according to unit standards, abide by relevant legislation, policies, and procedures (i.e., Occupational Health & Safety Act, Public Hospitals Act) and perform work duties in accordance with SMGH’s Code of Conduct.**

**_Provide support for the continued development of a best-in-class customer service model, working in partnership with a broad group of managers and senior leaders. _**
