The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for an intellectually curious student to join our Building Standards team for a summer placement.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Building Official, this position is responsible for supporting the Building Standards Department to meet service delivery needs. This will include administrative backfilling activities, performing analytical work, and supporting staff on building standards initiatives.

**Responsibilities**:
Provide research information for the Branch.

Participate in site inspections in presence of a Building Official.

Provide administrative support for Mandatory On-site Sewage System inspection programs.

Assists with general enquiries from the public, permit applicants, etc.

Provides back-up to Permit Coordinators.

Completes FOI research (reviewed by Staff).

**Qualifications**:
Enrolled in college and pursuing a diploma in architectural/engineering technology or equivalent.

1-2 years of experience in an office environment is considered an asset.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Solid understanding of grading plans/surveying procedures.

Solid understanding of construction techniques.

**Salary**: $18.25 - $20.38/hr, plus 4% vacation pay

**Hours**: 35 hours per week, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday

**Dates**: May 1 - September 1
