**BASIC FUNCTIONS**:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational safety, Environmental/Health Science or an Associate Degree in a related discipline.
- **Minimum** of 3 years of Environmental and Safety experience post education.
- Understanding of OH&S Act and Regulations (Ont. Reg. 851 Industrial Establishments) and Environmental Compliance (EASR, ESDM, NPRI, E2 & RPRA)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
- Means and ability to travel.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

- **Initiative **- Being proactive with seeking out work that needs to be done, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and being willing to take on responsibilities and challenges. Ability to analyze, problem solve and think strategically.
- **Accountability **- Displays responsibility with work habits and has ability to hold others accountable for desired results.
PREFERENCES:
- Demonstrate experience with making improvements in SIF (Serious Injury, Fatality) potential incidents.
- Maintain and monitor the EHS policies, procedures, standards and permits to ensure compliance with Nucor requirements and the government regulations.
- Maintain the environmental emergency response plan and manage the execution in case of an emergency.
- Support the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP)
- Track and ensure a proper RCA (root cause analysis) is conducted for all incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Schedule and conduct Safety and Behavioral Based Audits
- Knowledge on Designated substances requirements as per OH&S
