**The opportunity**:
The Human Resources Assistant provides dedicated HR and administrative support to the College of Community & Global Health. Working closely with members of the Dean’s Office, the HR Assistant is responsible for a range of human resource functions, including recruitment coordination, promotion and tenure processes, staff onboarding and offboarding, research study leave support, and maintaining organizational structures and records. This position requires a high degree of discretion, accuracy, and organization, with a commitment to equity, confidentiality, and excellent service.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., human resources, public administration) and a minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in HR or academic personnel processes.
- Demonstrated experience with recruitment coordination, onboarding, and academic HR processes.
- Familiarity with university policies, collective agreements, and administrative procedures related to academic hiring and appointment changes.
- Experience maintaining personnel records and supporting performance review or promotion and tenure processes.
- Experience in a complex organization with multiple employment types/groups would be an asset.
- Understanding of confidentiality requirements and relevant privacy legislation (e.g., FIPPA).
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex processes and respond to inquiries with clarity and care.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to track multiple deadlines and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency with HR systems, databases, and enterprise tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, EPIC, UM Learn, Concur).
- Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully in diverse, team-oriented environments.
- Cultural humility, adaptability, and a commitment to inclusive practices in all HR-related work.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility (EDIA), and professional development in HR practice is expected.
