**Adaptive Technology Trainer for the Blind, Deafblind, & Visually Impaired**

This seasonal/contract part-time position is working for the working in the Sight Substitution Centre located at _W. Ross Macdonald School for the blind, visually impaired and deafblind._

**Responsibilities**:
- Develop and provide training on computer adaptive devices to clients, school boards, agencies, itinerant teachers, etc
- Applicants must be proficient with Apple/Mac products and have a clear understanding of Windows based computers. Use and understanding of keyboard Shortcuts, Accessibility, and Voiceover functions will be very beneficial.
- Prepare individual training programs for students and adult clients
- Prepare reports, maintain attendance records for students in the ADP Tech Program
- Review, assess and confirm client’s skill level with ADP devices for the blind and visually impaired
- Test new ADP Low/High Tech devices
- Setup new PC equipment for users, clean equipment, perform software updates, wipe hard drives, load new software, and manage student PC equipment loans
**Qualifications**:
- Technical Aids or equivalent training and experience, Grade 1 Braille Certified, Technical knowledge and use of both Mac & Windows systems.
- Judgement and evaluative skills to assess client’s level of learning and ability to use ADP devices
- Proficient with office software programs (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook etc.) to prepare letters, reports, respond to inquiries
- Use of Jaws, Abby Fine Writer, or similar software beneficial
- Ability to train and consult on adaptive hardware and software.

- This is a non-union annual contract position._
**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months
Part-time hours: 20 per week
**Salary**: $22.50-$24.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Brantford, ON N3T 3J9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
**Experience**:
- Technical Aids or equivalent training: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Grade 1 Braille Certified (preferred)
