Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated, independent and experienced barista to join our team The barista will be responsible for overseeing the opening/daytime operations of our unique establishment, which is a cafe, bar and event venue. This role requires independent motivation, excellent customer service, and a thorough understanding of espresso drink production, as well as a basic understanding of bar and event venue service.

**Duties**:

- Opening the business both alone (on expected slower days) and with coworkers
- Preparing daily food items for service (simple assembly, no cooking)
- Creating hot and iced espresso, matcha and other tea-based drinks using a manual espresso machine and grinder
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization in all areas of the establishment, including the bar, seated areas, and restrooms
- Adhering to food safety and liquor service regulations and ensure compliance with health department and BC liquor guidelines
- Handling cash and card transactions accurately and securely
- Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally, in communication with management when necessary

Qualifications:

- Active BC Serving It Right certification
- Food Safe Level 1 (optional)
- Strong previous experience as a barista, with knowledge of manual espresso machine and grinder usage
- Previous experience in simple bartending (ideal but not required)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work both independently and with other employees
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, BC liquor regulations and best practices
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor
- Proficient in cash handling procedures
- Ability to work in a variable environment - both slow and fast-service periods - while maintaining attention to detail

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28 - 40 per week
