BCIT’s **School of Business and Media** is seeking a **temporary, part-time (0.5 **FTE**) Lead Corporate Training.** The School of Business and Media (“SOBM”) Lead, Corporate Training, is responsible for designing and implementing customized Workshops offered by the SOBM. This role reports to the Associate Dean, Business Administration and they are provided with administrative support from two BUSA Staff members.**Duties & Responsibilities**

**DUTIES** **AND**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The Lead, Corporate Training, is responsible for the development, instruction, administration, marketing, and relevant parties engagement of the SOBM’s corporate training activities.
- The Lead, Corporate Training, is expected to lead in the conceptual development of programs, demonstrate professional judgment and skills with respect to the design, implementation, management and evaluation of programs; and work effectively with academic colleagues, professional associations and business and community groups.

**Program Development and Curriculum Design**:

- Initiates and manages the development of new workshops: conceptualizes, designs and develops new and innovative “products” by assessing market opportunities, liaising with community, industry and professional associations, faculty and other partners, and creating and revising curriculum
- Assesses opportunities to further develop existing workshops and courses, and undertakes that development
- Liaises with business, professional, industry, education and community groups and associations, promoting programs and soliciting feedback on existing workshops and potential new workshops
- Collects evaluative feedback and makes appropriate adjustments to workshop and course offerings
- Works in collaboration with industry experts on workshop development issues such as curriculum design and delivery
- Seeks guidance and input from the Associate Dean regarding questions of curriculum review and renewal and actively seeking their input and advice in planning new activities
- Maintains ongoing workshop relevance and currency by initiating changes to matrix/curriculum, and workshop descriptions and learning outcomes, as required
- Ensures that workshops are closely aligned with relevant professional associations and designations, where appropriate
- Creates plans and budgets for development and review activities as required.
- Provides activity progress updates to Associate Dean as required.

**Administrative Oversight**:

- Supervises work of Department Program Assistant and Program Planning Analyst and provides input into the performance assessment
- Authorizes Program Assistant to generate instructor contracts and when enrolment is sufficient approves contracts after acceptance by instructors or, in the case of curriculum development contracts after acceptance by developers
- Monitors registrations and decides if workshops should be added or cancelled
- In consultation with the Associate Dean decides fees for new and existing workshops
- Supports the planning and execution of marketing and communication strategies
- Provides activity progress updates as required.
- Creates plans and forecasts for future workshops as required.

**Instructor Engagement**
- Recruits, hires and orients new instructors for Corporate training teaching assignments as required.
- Provides peer review of teaching, coaching, guidance, advice, performance evaluation and other support to instructors as appropriate related to course preparation, teaching and classroom management, student evaluation, student behaviour, academic appeals, and course administration and housekeeping duties, and timetabling/classroom allocation issues.
- Greets instructors and provides organizational support on tstart-up dates.
- Arranges and leads workshop-specific instructor meetings as appropriate
- Ensures that instructors are made aware of instructor development courses and workshops

**Participant Engagement**
- Coordinates and/or responds to requests for information about workshops, programs,
- Responds to student complaints about instructors ,course offerings, and academic appeals
- Responds to incidents of alleged breaches of BCIT policy by students.

**Qualifications**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Diploma or degree in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum five years of experience in post-secondary teaching and student evaluation skills, over the range of instructional areas noted above
- Ability to prepare, deliver and administer relevant and applied course material, including effective coaching and assessment of students, in a manner that promotes learner motivation and successful acquisition of skills and knowledge
- Excellent communication and interaction skills, both oral and written
- Flexible, creative and enthusiastic presentation approach and ability to deliver interactive and experiential sessions
