**Our Corporate Services Department is seeking a CSA Training Coordinator who will help to administer the Corporate Safety regulatory training program at Metro Vancouver, including working with internal client groups to support their regulatory training needs and liaising with external providers to design and deliver required training.**

**You are: A self-motivated individual with excellent written and oral communication skills who has a strong understanding of occupational health and safety as well as an applied knowledge of training and education principles and methodologies.**

**The CSA Training Coordinator reports to the Program Manager, Prevention Services.**

**This role**:

- Administers the Corporate Safety regulatory training program for all Metro Vancouver employees. Identifies and coordinates Safety Management System (SMS) training courses addressing existing and emerging regulatory or functional SMS compliance.
- Liaises with industry partners, instructors and training providers to monitor OHS training trends, usage and costs. Works with diverse internal contacts to project annual training requirements. Analyzes projections for potential economies of scale and standardizes and consolidates courses across departments where feasible.
- Works with external and internal instructors to identify, design, and deliver required training. Works collaboratively with managers, supervisors and safety resources to integrate SMS training outcomes in the business processes and regular work routines of staff. Oversees the administration of course registration and recording of course completion.
- Manages and administers the Corporate Safety Training System (Learning Management System) to support safety training curriculums, online and in-person learning and track training completions for all Metro Vancouver staff.
- Assists and supports management by providing professional advice and guidance to employees and supervisors on corporate safety training requirements. Supports the analysis of complex scenarios requiring the input of various stakeholders and makes recommendations to the Program Manager for consideration.
- Supports management in responding to and resolving challenges that may occur as it relates to Corporate Safety training requirements or delivery. Promotes cooperation and teamwork and aides in the resolution of conflict as appropriate.
- Administers the annual WorkSafe BC Certificate of Recognition (CoR) Audit cycle, including liaising with auditors and internal MV resources and workgroups. Reviews and analyzes CoR audit reports for trends and drafts CoR action plan recommendations.
- Writes, reviews and distributes communications materials for the Corporate Safety Division; including monthly updates, advisories and safety talks.
- Manages services contracts and assignments for training providers. Considers the cost implications, effectiveness and availability of internal and external training providers and makes sound recommendations.
- Assists to prepare the Corporate Safety budget and long range plans; monitors and controls spending ensuring the effective and efficient expenditure of allocated funds. Works with procurement to set up and issue necessary Request for Proposals and Standing Offer Agreements for training service providers. Keeps current on applicable regulations, legislation and acts associated with scope of responsibilities.
- Performs other related duties as required.

**To be successful, you have**:

- 5 years of recent, related experience supplemented by a university degree or diploma in a relevant discipline such as adult education, occupational health and safety or organizational development; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Certification or eligible to immediately obtain certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional; or an equivalent professional designation (CIH, CSP).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the safety related training considerations and processes for a large scale utility engineering and heavy construction employer. Demonstrated and applied knowledge of the training requirements for high risk work activities and programs related to confined space entry, lockout, fall protection and technical rescue.
- Ability to work under broad direction and use significant independent judgment to problem solve where more than one option is possible. Ability to identify opportunities to address emerging needs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively listen, persuade others, and support the resolution of problems. Ability to guide managers on occupational health and safety training and communication issues. Displays a high degree of professionalism and tact.
