The Emergency Preparedness Manager is accountable to the Manager, Emergency Planning for the support and maintenance of building life safety and emergency management programs, processes and procedures required to quickly respond to business and operational disruptions and safeguarding people, assets and brand equity within Air Canada.
**This position is on a contract basis for a period of six months (temporary).**
**Responsibilities**:
- Coordinate the launch of new Emergency Management initiatives in line with the department multi-year strategic plan (e.g., symposiums, workshops/awareness, technological and facility related upgrades, data integration, program dashboarding, etc.)
- Build Life Safety day-to-day program activities, including plan reviews, compliance submissions, drill coordination, and procurement of emergency equipment and materials.
- Provide programmatic guidance to key stakeholders (i.e., Emergency Wardens) regarding life safety, regulatory requirements, and emergency preparedness.
- Develop and deliver emergency preparedness education and life safety related training and exercises (e.g. digital public education, virtual engagement, workshops, online training modules, tabletop to full scale exercises, etc.)
- Support the Emergency Management department with day-to-day program administration such as record maintenance, jurisdictional scans and program reviews, development of reports/briefing materials, and stakeholder consultation/engagement campaigns.
- Activate incident and recovery plans and conduct/facilitate incident debriefings, as and where required.
- Ensure corporate preparedness documents and protocols are current and aligned with best practices, and corporate compliance.
- Recommend appropriate resource allocation for service delivery, including provision of services and/or emergency response.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of effective working relationships, partnerships, and networks with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate on committees, task forces and working groups.
**Qualifications**
- A post-secondary degree, diploma or certification related to emergency management / crisis management.
- Experience in project management and roles involving emergency response, building life safety, and/or emergency management.
- General knowledge of applicable regulations and related standards within Canada (e.g., Fire Code, NFPA Standards)
- Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills when executing routine duties and during times of crisis.
- Exceptional organizational and detail oriented skill set with the ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Proven ability to be innovative, influence change and deliver results.
- Able to work independently or as a group in a fast paced and challenging environment with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and with Visio.
- Working knowledge and practical experience with IT systems is preferred.
- Project Management Professional certification is an asset.
