**Position**:Maintenance Worker

**Purpose**:Working under the direction of Manager of Facilities Services to:

- Ensure the effective and efficient operation of all the physical facilities and systems of the campus

**Reporting to**:Manager of Facilities Services

**Qualifications**:

- Knowledge of building systems and general maintenance principles
- Planning and communication skills - verbal and written
- Experience in Long Term Care, hospital an/or institutional building maintenance is an asset
- Able to work under supervision as well as on own
- Must possess good work ethic and excellent people skills
- Ability to perform physical duties inside and outside the facility
- Basic Computer Skills
- G Driver License (tractor/golf cart)
- Working at heights will be required - asset if you have already completed training

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES**

**Residents**:
a. Build relationships to promote the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing of residents

b. Provide choice and decision-making opportunities to residents in all circumstances. Maintain residents’ autonomy as much as possible.

c. Be creative when problem-solving difficult situations and interactions

d. Speak kind and affirming words to residents. Do not infantilize them. Treat them with respect and as adults.

e. Get to know **each** resident’s preferences and simple pleasures.

f. Be very mindful of maintaining residents’ privacy.

g. Dignity must be the foundation of everything you do and say

h. Observe / report any possible signs of health decline or changes to residents’ behavior to team leader or nursing team

**Team**:
a) Communicate clearly with all staff (ie: nursing team, laundry team, housekeeping team, maintenance team, and team leader)

b) Contribute to success of team and maintain a positive attitude

c) Acknowledge that only English is to be spoken while on duty

d) Be flexible and eager to help teammates

e) Recognize and acknowledge your teammates’ strengths

f) Remember: “I am you and you are me.” - If one member of the team succeeds, we all succeed; if one member of the team falls, we all fall.

A requirement for all individuals who work at The Meadows of Aurora and support our 55+ community include:

- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required. Everyone at this location is required to follow proper hand hygiene and wear a mask.
- A two-step TB test that can be arranged through your family doctor or many pharmacies.
- A Vulnerable Sector Check that can be obtained through designated Police locations.

**Full-Time Hours**: Mon
- Fri (8am-4pm)
