**Job Description**:
**This position can be based out of Sherwood Park or Calgary.**
**What would you be doing?**
- Work directly with the Vice President, Finance and Corporate Controlling, Controllers, and Financial Analysts in Corporate Finance and Operational Accounting.
- Responsible for full cycle of month end processes for corporate overhead companies, including prepare journal entries, account / bank reconciliations, and related analyses.
- Maintain monthly leadsheet for each company.
- Working closely with supply chain management on capital expenditures, including accurately recording acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation expenses in the accounting system per IFRS and company policy; overseeing the accounting and reconciliation of fixed asset subledger.
- Working closely with Lessors on Capital Leases, including accurately recording additions, transfers, and buyouts per IFRS and company policy; overseeing the accounting and reconciliation of all lease liability schedules.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls related to fixed asset accounting. Regularly review processes and procedures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant accounting policies and regulations. Identify and mitigate any potential risks or control gaps.
- Prepare variance analysis and explanations by analyzing past results, continuity schedules, identifying trends, and providing recommendations for improvements to Corporate finance and the business.
- Increase productivity by developing or improving automated reporting tools models.
- Identify process improvements and provide support in the implementation of enhanced tools for efficiency (such as robotic process automation).
- Building relationships with external auditors on a quarterly basis and accounting consultants as required.
- Provide financial guidance to business areas to ensure accurate accounting and accounting decisions align with business decisions.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
**Does this sound like you?**
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, preferably IFRS.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills as well as thorough analytical and critical thinking skills to perform independent analysis with attention to detail.
- Experience preparing written materials, including reports, briefing notes, accounting memos, and other documents for management.
- Experience communicating complex, detailed concepts widely to differing audiences in a concise, compelling manner verbally, in writing and graphic formats.
- Experience with public company reporting requirement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce or Business Administration and a professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
