The Operations Manager is responsible for working to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization’s Calgary operations. They are responsible for leading various operational activities, streamlining processes, and facilitating effective multi-department communication. This role works closely with the Operations, Planning & Scheduling, Shipping, Maintenance and Engineering teams; as well as with Supervisors and Operators to enhance productivity, optimize throughput, eliminate waste, and maintain the highest level of customer service.

**Responsibilities**:
**1. Oversee Daily Operations**:

- Ensure efficient, high-quality, and compliant day-to-day operations including the implementation of standardized processes and training programs.
- Monitor, audit, and ensure 100% system compliance to operational standards including safety, quality, and throughput.
- Ensure team members are effectively trained to perform their functions at the required level.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline manufacturing and operational processes, enhance overall performance, and ensure consistent, reliable, and exceptional service for our customers.
- Utilize operational data to conduct performance analysis, identify areas for improvement, and recommend actionable solutions.
- Monitor all critical drivers and KPIs to ensure effective operations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all operational activities.
- Champion and ensure a culture of safety, cleanliness, and adherence to organization’s core values.
- Support the planning, organization, and execution of operational strategies; ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

**2. Enhance Communication and Documentation**:

- Facilitate clear and effective communication between departments to ensure information flow, compliance, and timely resolution of operational challenges.
- Produce and distribute operational reports, memos, and other critical documentation.
- Maintain comprehensive records to support trend analysis and identify opportunities for continuous operational improvement.
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and improvement of operational policies, procedures, and checklists.
- Report up daily about activities, outcomes, obstacles, and plans to resolve.

**3. Optimize Resource Management**:

- Oversee the allocation and utilization of resources including personnel, equipment, and materials; ensure optimal deployment to meet operational goals.
- Identify and propose resource optimization strategies, work closely with the Vice President of Operations & Engineering to implement enhancements.

**4. Drive Process Improvement**:

- Regularly assess critical operational metrics and KPIs; lead teams to meet performance targets and drive operational success.
- Lead the development and standardization of process enhancements, ensure alignment with organizational and industry best practices.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and collaborate with stakeholders to implement solutions for improved efficiency.
- Recommend and execute changes to optimize workflows; ensure alignment with procedures and strategic objectives as set by the Organization.

**5. Support Team Development and Culture**:

- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, encourage teamwork, open communication, engagement, and a commitment to operational excellence.
- Provide administrative support to the Operations team including scheduling, meeting facilitation, and proper documentation.
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new team members on operational procedures and systems.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in managing and overseeing operational activities within a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated capability to plan, organize, and execute projects.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and hold others accountable.
- Proficient in using operational excellence and project management tools.
- Ability to effectively supervise and train team members.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of operational best practices and process improvement methodologies.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
