**Assistant Manager, Facilities**:

The **Facilities** team is comprised of over 300 trades personnel and service workers that provide trusted services and stewardship in support of teaching, learning, and discovery. This team is responsible for operations, maintenance, service, utilities distribution, and customer support. The Facilities Team Charter describes the purpose, vision, and values that in turn support the campus community.

**Primary Purpose and Nature of Work**:Reporting to the Manager, Operations and Maintenance, this position is responsible for the delivery of preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance program(s), and provides leadership to achieve superior customer service for clientele. The role ensures safe and properly maintained buildings and systems in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Responsible for resources and coordination of operating budgets, this position leads and provides guidance on operational, maintenance, and service activities through policies, procedures, regulations, contracts, and service agreements. This position plays a key role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, employee engagement, and inclusivity while supporting the University the World Needs through fiscally responsible and financially sustainable practices.

**Accountabilities**:

- Accountable to the Facilities Team Charter, aligned with the purpose, vision, and values, holding themselves and each other accountable to it
- Fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the team, ensuring alignment with both the strategic direction of the Facilities team and the broader goals of the university
- Responsible for a diverse team and ensuring staff are working within operational and procedural standards while meeting quality operations and customer service needs of the university and campus partners
- Provides direct supervision of staff and manages the employee life cycle through activities such as recruitment, onboarding, retention, separations, orientation, coaching, and performance feedback. Supports professional growth, training, and development, manages performance improvement, and addresses disciplinary matters up to and including termination
- Assists in the development and implements strategic plans, while also contributing to the creation and execution of service level agreements that support the research and teaching mission of the University
- Drive change initiatives aimed at improving service delivery, fostering a culture of accountability, and promoting innovation and collaboration within the team. Proactively address challenges and ensure alignment with the strategic direction of the Facilities team and the university
- Lead change management efforts, ensuring smooth transitions during process improvements, new technology implementations, or organizational restructuring. Support staff through periods of change by providing clear communication, training, and opportunities for feedback
- A key member of the Facilities Leadership team, providing input, guidance, and advice on strategic initiatives. Participates in projects across the organization to support operational excellence
- Responsible for validating concerns related to operations, maintenance, and/or service offerings; oversees the inspection, troubleshooting, and initiation of work as needed, and ensures quality control to meet campus needs
- Monitors resources and coordinates area budgets to support operational efficiency and financial sustainability
- Collaborates effectively with other units and key stakeholders with the University to ensure reliable operations and alignment with university objectives
- Actively promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment, ensuring staff are encouraged to contribute their ideas and perspectives
- Reduces risk by remaining current with and adhering to university policies, guidelines and processes, collective agreements, relevant legislation, and regulatory code compliance
- Develops outcome measurement tools to assess performance, analyze results, and implement improvements where necessary
- Contributes to the development of multi-year budgets for staffing, work activities, projects, and other initiatives
